What’s This TV Show About?
Streaming on the Netflix paid subscription platform, The Indian Detective stars Russell Peters, Mishqah Parthiephal, Christina Cole, Scott Cavalheiro, Anupam Kher, Hazma Haq, and William Shatner. The mystery comedy-drama centers on Constable Doug D’Mello (Peters), a Toronto police officer who can’t get out of his own way, in his quest to make detective. When a big case fizzles out, Doug visits his father Stanley (Kher) in Mumbai. There, he gets caught up in a murder investigation which leads him straight into the sights of a lethal criminal — one with ties back to Toronto.

Telly’s Take
Because this TV show airs on CTV in Canada, and streams on Netflix in the US, I can’t use the Nielsen ratings to predict whether they’ll cancel or renew The Indian Detective for season two. In addition, this is one of those shows that could end up as a mini-series. While I’m always up for Indian food, I don’t have a strong feeling either way about a second-season pickup. I loved this show and consider it a family type show which is a rare breed in itself. Bottom line is it hits all the right points for entertainment. PLEASE keep it!

I believe this show to be a breath of fresh air. The basis of embracing ethnic, Indian, actors and backdrop is unique mixed with the detectve’s light comedic relief . It is a smart premise and a welcome change!

Don’t cancel this show!!!!! Quirky, yes! Sometimes alternating between goofy and akward, yes! But this is show has good storylines, good humor, and an interesting portrayal of Indian culture. I like the way it alternates between continents and shines a light on global corruption, drugs, and ties to money laundering.The characters are well written and well acted and its always fun to see William Schatner.
