TVGuide is reporting that NBC has unceremoniously cancelled Las Vegas after five seasons on the air.
Las Vegas debuted on September 22, 2003 and was touted as actor James Caan’s first series regular role on television. The Academy Award-nominated actor was cast as the Montecito casino’s Head of Security, ‘Big Ed’ Deline. Others in the cast have included Nikki Cox, Josh Duhamel, James Lesure, Vanessa Marcil, Molly Sims, and Marsha Thomason.
Caan left the series last year to return to his movie career and Cox was cut from the show in a cost-cutting move. Caan was replaced by Tom Selleck and it was hoped that the addition of the veteran TV actor would help revitalize the series. It didn’t and, coupled with the series’ move to Friday nights, the ratings dropped significantly.
Last year, Las Vegas was one of the earliest NBC shows to get a renewal notice. What a difference a year can make.
NBC has opted not to renew Las Vegas for season six. Unlike Friday Night Lights, Vegas apparently doesn’t warrant shopping to other possible outlets and fans of the series are left with a cliffhanger. The last two episodes aired last Friday and was first in the ratings for both hours, Unbeknownst to viewers at the time, it was likely the last time we’ll see the staff of the Montecito. Stay tuned!
That sux…. not even a bit of closure…. Thanks a lot NBC…. They always cancel the good, non-reality or game show, “smart” tv….. Sorry, not everyone who watches tv is a moron who wants to watch people eat bugs or a dating show!!!!

You know what? How about that I just STOP watching television!!!!!!! Seeing how my favorite show is being cancelled!!!!!!! How could you cancel Las Vegas?! Does our opinion matter or count? Apparently not. So, as I said before, since our favorite show just get snatched away, why watch televison? They don’t last long anyway. I am very, very disappointed that you have pulled Las Vegas. If you care anything about the viewers at all you would keep it on the air.
Look, Las Vegas is a fun show that I have really enjoyed. Granted, it’s not one of those shows that’s going to run forever…but at least tie up all the loose ends!
I am very disappointed that NBC is cancelling one of their best shows. It is disrespectful to the viewers & fans of this show to leave them hanging like this, without any closure. How can they justify cancelling a good show that most families watch & keep their stupid reality shows. I know I am getting tired of reality shows….that is all that is on these days. NBC has become a real disappointment to the industry by making poor decisions like this one. They are putting good actors out of work & really pissing off fans. Bad move NBC. Hopefully… Read more »
I know it’s a business, but it is just wrong to not let Las Vegas have a series finale to close up the loose ends. I am of the opinion any show that goes more than 2 years deserves a proper send off. I mean what is NBC going to replace Las Vegas with between now and May, additional episodes of Law & Order or Dateline, maybe some Deal or No Deal. Come to think of it, do they have any other programming?
I can’t believe they are cancelling Las Vegas! We watched it every week along with Friday Night Lights! Cane was looking pretty good too. We were just saying how the networks wait until we really like a show and then pull it. They are getting as bad as HBO!
If you are going to cancel a show, then do not leave a cliff hanger. That is jist plain rude. Let fans know what happened to Delinda and her baby and wrap everything up. Also make sure if you are canceling October Road, another great show, you end it with Nick getting his first love back and not having her marry Big Cat
This is rediculous. One of the only shows on tv that everone in the family likes. No wonder NBC has such crappy rep.
it is so unfair for nbc to treat the fans this way.i have never missed a episode since it came on in 2003.to just cut us off from a proper ending is just awful.i know not to ever get hooked on a nbc show ever again. i am not watching this chanel ever again. they do this all the time.they will probably have another stupid game show on now.
jackass, the 2 shows my wife teenage son and i watch. you cancel. i just don’t get it
I also hate when they cancel shows before they even have a chance. However, Vegas seemed to have had a good run while it lasted. James Caan made that show and with him gone, it wasn’t good enough or worth going on with. Perhaps they could do a movie to wrap things up? I really don’t understand how people can like most of television programming these days especially with all this Reality TV. It’s just total crap and people keep it on the air by watching it. Maybe if people stopped watching shows like that and actually put the studios… Read more »
this is crap——come on NBC, what are you thinking. Friday Night Lights and Las Vegas were 2 of the best shows on TV-you got this one wrong!
I am shocked to learn that they are cancelling Las Vegas. It is the number one show that my family watches. There have been some changes this past season that I didn’t like…such as the dummying up of Danny McCoy but I am shocked that it was cancelled. I hope that NBC rethinks this decision.
I really hate when networks cancel shows and leave you hanging as to what is going to happen. With the cancelation of Las Vegas you would think that they would at least film a few moer episodes and let you know what happens to Delinda and the baby? How Coop survived the plane crash? Does Sam really get married? They have done this to so many shows that I have gotten into…the nine, windfall, and now las vegas, cane, and maybe october road. I just wish they would finish a story before completely taking a show off the air.
