In 2017, ABC famously cancelled the Last Man Standing sitcom after six seasons. Though the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television, the FOX network didn’t save it. A year later, FOX decided to revive the Tim Allen series and give it the same Friday night timeslot. Will the ratings be better on FOX than they were on ABC? Will Last Man Standing be cancelled or renewed for season eight? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A family sitcom on FOX, Last Man Standing stars Tim Allen, Nancy Travis, Amanda Fuller, Molly McCook, Christoph Sanders, Jordan Masterson, Hector Elizondo, Jet Jurgensmeyer, Krista Marie Yu, and Jonathan Adams. Kaitlyn Dever will recur. The series revolves around Mike Baxter (Allen), the marketing director of the Outdoor Man sporting goods stores and a “man’s man”. His family doesn’t see eye-to-eye with him so it can sometimes be a little tough for Mike to stand his ground and stay in touch with his inner man.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The sixth season of Last Man Standing on ABC averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic and a total audience of 6.41 million viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Last Man Standing TV show? Should it be cancelled or renewed for an eighth season?
*4/18/19 update: FOX has renewed Last Man Standing for an eighth season.
This show needs more Eve, less Mandy and absolutely NO Kristin. That “hate” between Tim and Larabee was funny — that needs to come back. Other than all of this, I still love the show. Take that, ABC!
Well people expect same show. That not going happen. Enjoy and be thankful it’s on still don’t disrespectful it’s in so relax.
The new Mandy character is absolutely horrible! What were they thinking? Too talll, trying to be like the original Mandy and falls way short. We are signing off this new series AND we were huge supporters of the original series.
This show needs to go. Tim Allen is not funny now nor was he ever. Let it go
Tim looks like he’s aged 10 years since last season. Kyle needs more scenes with Outdoor Man set. New Mandy a total bust. Zero chemistry! Still like the show but the witty political comments & caustic banter have all but dried up. Finally…I miss Eve as a regular. The interactions with Tim were comic gold.
Was glad to see this show come back, but don’t care for the new Mandy, goes from brunette to blonde? What’s up with that? I do record it in case I can’t watch on Friday nights.
I still live the show. It’s hard to get used to the new Mandy, but the biggest problem I have is that the show us frequently preempted by sports. It’s hard to get a sense of continuity if the show isn’t on when we expect it to be on. Also, by promoting it, it doesn’t become part of our routine. I’ve had to pay to watch it twice, because I forgot to watch it, or my local listing said it wasn’t on. It has nothing to do with the quality of the show, but the audience shouldn’t have to play… Read more »
Not thrilled with new Mandy but she’s growing on me! This is my favorite show, if it gets canceled again my heart would break!
New Mandy is not a success. Kinda spoils the show for me.
I’m still trying not to judge… I do find it odd that they didn’t at least change her hair color
Loving that Deadline has officially called this the Fox smartest chess move of the year. I would love to see if ABC is kicking themselves. It is looking like Fresh Off the Boat has lost almost half their live viewing demo. Not good! Yay for LMS! Fans have spoken.
Appearing from the second episode it looks like it’s dropping the ratings. So Who really knows
Give it up…they show is here to stay! It won the ratings night in demo still and was still a great lead in for the Cool Kids who took second place. The ratings drop was expected.
Look the rating are dropping. Besides everybody thought though the first episode was going to be a lot higher in this and it wasn’t even close. That’s real lol no it’s wasnt expect to happen this much
Actually hate to tell you that the initial episode is expected to be that high. If you listen to interviews by the producers, the show is performing EXACTLY where they expected AND is better than where it was on ABC.
Frankly speaking no because look at the current ratings current state. They’re not great and seems like it’s going more more down to the point where you know. Don’t get your hopes up because doesn’t like this show has much more stamina left other than what it is since were is and go further down.
I’m so glad this show is on FOX now, it will get new great ratings it deserves! I will watch this show!
Also note for Tim Allen, I wouldn’t mind if you do a sequel to Galaxy Quest!?!?!?
I kinda agree. Unfortunately, Alan Rickman, who stole the show, is dead.
Don’t like new Mandy, not the same without MOLLY on the show. Want be watching
Love Last Man Standing- sorry don’t like the new Mandy
Welcome back! Not a fan of the new Mandy but, love the show. Hope it has at least a 5 year run.
