You have to feel for the ladies of Lipstick Jungle. Not only is the fate of their TV show still up in the air, now it seems that someone has been raiding their closets.
A stage manager on the stylish series that stars Brooke Shields, Lindsay Price and Kim Raver has been charged with stealing $30,000 worth of designer bags and clothing from ratings-challenged Jungle.
Arthur Moreira, 27, was apparently trying to sell the ladies’ goods on eBay. He was recently arrested by New York police after they found 16 coats, bags, and suits in his apartment. Some of the costly merchandise’s brands include Prada, Fendi, Gucci, and Dolce & Gabbana.
The District Attorney’s office in Brooklyn said that they were tipped off by an employee of Paris fashion designer Sylvia Toledano who noticed a distinctive crystal-encrusted clutch on ebay. The bag had been loaned to Jungle.
Moreira reportedly offered to sell the clutch and a Burberry coat to undercover investigators at a significant discount, explaining that they’d “fallen off the back of a truck.”
When she heard about the charges, Shields said that, last year, Moreira stole her wallet right out of her dressing room. The actress concluded, “He’s not very bright, because the purse was worth more than the wallet.”
An employee at Brooklyn’s Broadway Ventures, the production facility used by Jungle, Moreira is scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday.
