Despite a wicked drop in the ratings last year, FOX renewed its Lucifer TV show for a third season. Give the devil his due, though. Decline aside, the supernatural police procedural remained a top-10 ratings earner for the network. Can it hold on, come hell or high water? Will Lucifer be cancelled or renewed for season four? Stay tuned. **6/15/2018: See update below.
A comedy drama, Lucifer stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, Aimee Garcia, Tricia Helfer, Scarlett Estevez, and Tom Welling. The FOX TV series centers on Lucifer Morningstar (Ellis) who abandoned his throne, retired to Los Angeles, opened up a nightclub, and started helping LAPD Detective Chloe Decker (German) crack cases. Now with his mother (Helfer) taken care of, in season three, Lucifer wants to figure out who kidnapped him and why his angel wings have returned. He also has to deal with a new rival for Chloe’s attention, Lieutenant Marcus Pierce (Welling), who, unlike Lucifer, is strategic, reserved, and well-respected.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/29 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The second season of Lucifer averaged a 1.04 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.654 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Lucifer TV show? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
**5/11/2018 update: FOX has cancelled Lucifer so there won’t be a fourth season. Details here.
**6/15/2018 update: Netflix has picked up Lucifer season four. Details here.
I think the show was a flop from the beginning. There were too many cliche’d scenes that have been used over and over again for the last fifty year. The plots were not very good. Everything seemed generic. Also, Lucifer and the lady cop do not seem to connect very well. Their eye contact seems forced and hard to maintain.
Got hooked on Lucifer when it first aired, never got to the end of season 1 (cut the cord), then just recently discovered it available on Netflix. Has been binge watching it the past week, and just finished S3E23 (that made me teary eyes). Well, just wanted to say Season 1 was terrific, overall not as great in Season 2 or 3 (do love the whole Charlotte Richards as Mom, and her redemption episode made me felt emotional), and hopefully finally resolving the Sinnerman conflict will be more satisfying + Chloe accepting Lucifer for who is truly is (with proof)… Read more »
I am so happy that Netflix has picked up Lucifer. It is one of my favorite shows to watch.
The Fox Network is so oblivious of how many fans Lucifer has, it’s ludicrous. Please, please take a moment to sign and share the petition to #SaveLucifer

I cried at 23 episode, death was so real that I could not resist. The heroes of the series are real, emotional, complicated, so different, and yet form a whole. I want next seasons of Lucifer, not just 4. I want more, they are like my distant family, I miss them
Love It…. keep the show.
we really enjoy this show. I think the underlying storyline with good and evil, the biblical backdrop, is pretty interesting. Love the characters.
I love this show very much.
Hi Anita… I love Lucifer too. If you could sign and share this petition we may actually have a chance of saving it! I appreciate any help you can give.
