What’s This TV Show About?
A CBS political thriller, Madam Secretary stars Téa Leoni, Tim Daly, Sara Ramirez, Željko Ivanek, Keith Carradine, Sebastian Arcelus, Patina Miller, Geoffrey Arend, Erich Bergen, Kathrine Herzer, Wallis Currie-Wood, and Evan Roe. The drama follows the shrewd, determined Elizabeth McCord (Leoni). As U.S. Secretary of State, she battles office politics, while driving diplomacy and negotiating global deals.
Elizabeth was once a CIA analyst, who exited that post for ethical reasons. She later returned to public life, at the request of President Conrad Dalton (Carradine). He values her apolitical leanings, knowledge of the Middle East, flair for languages, and unconventional thinking. Elizabeth is married to Henry (Daly), a former theology professor who is now an intelligence operative. Together, they’re bringing up three children, which can really test her diplomatic skills.
Season Five Ratings
The fifth season of Madam Secretary averaged a 0.56 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.41 million viewers. Compared to season four, that’s down by 9% and 12%, respectively. Find out how Madam Secretary stacks up against the other CBS TV shows.

Madame Secretary needs to be renewed. It ‘s intelligently written. It addresses current issues, situations, and political platforms. The writers make the watchers think! There’s not enough of that in current programming.
Love the show – please keep showing us what politics with ethics and integrity can look like. We certainly aren’t seeing that in the real world.

This amazing show should run as long as it takes for Tia to actually become president. Elizabeth is a role model not only for women, but for people of all ages.
This is such an extraordinary show for so many reasons: superb role models for girls, women , men, dads, and teenagers; accurate, fascinating look into the complexities of international relations and U.S. politics; constructive and successful work environments; demonstration of taking the ‘high road’ on ethical and moral issues. It ought to be rated the no. 1 TV show in the U.S., and I wish the show never took a hiatus between one season series and the next—sorry cast, but you’re so excellent and intelligent and real!
I think Madam Secretary should stay on. It ranks great for intelligent material and up to date events. I would put it in an earlier time slot.
This is one of, if not the best show on TV at the moment. Elizabeth McCord is an amazing role model for all women, please bring her back and let us continue her journey.
Renew!!! Renew! Renew! How many times does it have to be said? This is a unique, thought provoking show, that’s just so good. The writing, the actors, the topics-great. It’s too bad there’s not more shows like it.

It should be renewed. It is not your typical show, and it is thought-provoking and also entertaining. How many more gun shows, detective shows, thrillers, etc. do we need? A great change of pace! It will be fun to watch it as the election unfolds. In the past this show has been so on-target as faros putting issues out there that are current.
Must be renewed. A different type of programme. Current affairs and family and political values. A breath of fresh air a d excellent writers and actors.
