What’s This TV Show About?
A CBS detective drama, Magnum PI is an updated reboot of the 1980s Tom Selleck vehicle. The new action-adventure series stars Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephn Hill, Tim Kang, and Amy Hill. It centers on former Navy SEAL Thomas Magnum (Hernandez), who is back from Afghanistan and working as a private investigator. Magnum lives in a guest cottage on the Robin’s Nest estate in Oahu, where he also serves as security consultant. With his team at the ready, a vintage Ferrari at his disposal, and his trademark aviator sunglasses, Magnum is always ready to crack the next case.
Season One Ratings
The first season of Magnum PI averaged a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.99 million viewers. Find out how Magnum PI stacks up against the other CBS TV shows.

Telly’s Take
Will CBS cancel or renew Magnum PI for season two? Considering how many people tuned out after watching the premiere of lead-in Young Sheldon, things didn’t look good, right from the start. The numbers have declined since then but I think CBS really wants to renew Magnum for a second season so they’ll give it every chance they can (including ordering a full first season). Why did you take it off?
The new one can’t hold a candle to the old one. Weak scripts, wimpy, shrimpy P.I. We kept waiting for it to get better to no avail. We will NOT be looking forward to a renewal.
I love, love, love the new Magnum PI. It is fun and delightful at the same time. I wait for it every week but it has not been on for the last few weeks-not good!
