What’s in store for CBS’ Magnum PI revival? Recently, SpoilerTV teased some details from the reboot series pilot.
The original Magnum PI starred Tom Selleck as Thomas Magnum, a private investigator who lives in Hawaii. The cast also included John Hillerman, Roger E. Mosley, and Larry Manetti. The show ran on CBS from 1980 to 1988.
According to SpoilerTV, CBS’ Magnum PI reboot will differ slightly from the ’80s original. In the pilot, Higgins (played by John Hillerman in the original series) is a woman “and butts heads with Magnum over everything, but they work together when a friend’s life is on the line.”
And while Higgins has changed, some key details will remain the same. In the reboot, Magnum will still drive a 308 GTS Ferrari and the show will feature two dogs.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Magnum PI? Would you watch the CBS reboot?
I can’t wait to watch!!!!
I can’t wait to watch!!!!!
Nope. Tom Selleck is Magnum, no one else.
No, I won’t watch a reboot! My God, are there no more original ideas, have they all gotten so lazy? A good show debuts – the give it a week or two and if it doesn’t hit the right numbers – they cancel it! Give the damn show a chance to find its feet!
I was always a big fan of Tom Selleck. I loved it when he was Magnum and I love watching him on Blue Bloods. I don’t want that show cancelled either. Stop cancelling all the good shows
i’m so sick and tired of these reboots. With very few exceptions, they flop. No one can replace Tom Selleck in this role, as well as John Hillerman. Can’t they come up with something new? They don’t give new shows a chance, just when we get into a good new show, it gets cancelled! Remember how long it took for “Seinfeld” to catch on? Now it is a classic. Just keep playing Magnum reruns and I’ll be happy.
Tom Selleck is Magnum can’t replace him. There’s no talent in Hollywood they can’t come up with something new or good. Wouldn’t watch if you paided me
I love Magnum PI w/Tom Selleck but I will def watch, I love Hawii 5-0 and surprisingly MacGyver as well, so I guess we have to wait and see.
CBS got lucky with “MacGyver.” Granted the original with Richard Dean Anderson will always be the best and the true MacGyver, this reboot isn’t bad. I think the only reason this reboot is working because of the characters of MacGyver, Dalton, Riley and the new boss (the chemistry of the cast). Besides a couple of MacGyverisms sprinkled within episodes, this show doesn’t have the feel or setting of the original show. To me, it’s another show entirely. A slightly different, yet true CBS crime drama that will rerun on ION Network and TNT someday. Now, “Magnum.” They shouldn’t do it.… Read more »
who will play magnum? tom selleck is going to be a hard act to follow
I totally agree, what has happened to their imagination?? Is this the best you can do? Recreating and rebooting is only telling us that there is no imagination left. If you do a reboot, please use new and interesting characters. Don’t use the same names.
If you are in the process of these reboots…. PLEASE and I mean PLEASE include Dallas among these series upon CBS…. also, would LOVE to see a reboot of HBO’s OZ… comedy wise, NBC…. do consider a return of Night Court to our screens!
They brought back Dallas on TNT a few years ago, but they cancelled it when Larry Hagman died. I’m watching Dynasty now on the CW it’s pretty good, but I think they’re going to cancel it
Yup, it’s done altready. It’s available on Netflix, at least in Canada it is (we don’t have exactly the same content as in the US, nor is it as complete – still no Travellers season 2…off topic, I know.) Anyway, Dallas, on Netflix.
Oops, sorry I confused Dallas and Dynasty – it’s Dynasty on Netflix.
What’s the point in trying to do something original? It seems like when they do, the show ends up getting canceled.
Hollywood, what is with all the reboots! Do something original instead of rehashing all the old shows
A return of Notorious, American Crime (especially considering how sweet it was last season) and A.D., would be awesome to see
Definitely would watch Magnum PI show.
