TV show description:
Created by John Fusco, this adventure TV show follows the early years of famous explorer Marco Polo (Lorenzo Richelmy) in 13th century China, as he travels the exotic Silk Road to the court of the great Kublai Khan (Benedict Wong) — Great king of Mongolian Empire.
Opulent, treacherous, and balancing on tenuous political high wires, Kublai Khan’s court in the 13th Century Mongol Empire is no place for an Italian explorer’s son — yet here he is.
Traded as a gift for access to the famed Silk Road by his father, the charismatic Marco Polo is part slave, part pet to the godlike Khan.
The ruthless ruler is being challenged by the steadfast remains of the Chinese Song dynasty — as well as by his own militant warlords. They’re growing tired of Kublai’s unproven son, Prince Jingim (Remy Hii).
The overlords of the Song Dynasty have their own webs to untangle. The empowered Chinese “Cricket” Minister Jia Sidao (Chin Han) weaves schemes to use his sister Mei Lin (Olivia Cheng) to seduce loyalty from the Chinese army in Xiangyiang.
That is, until he banishes her to a term of espionage within the Khan’s court.
Surrounded by illicit turmoil, Marco continues his physical and mental training with the sagacious, sightless Hundred Eyes (Tom Wu). Meanwhile, he plans a half-hearted escape from his ever-more-dangerous role as Kublai’s adopted son in the Empire.
But even Marco Polo can’t resist the charms of Khutulun (Claudia Kim) and the Blue Princess Kokachin (Zhu Zhu).
Episode #20 — The Fellowship
The day of the kurultai arrives which shapes Kublai’s fate as khan. Ahmad makes his final stand and Marco learns a truth that is terrible.
First aired: July 1, 2016.
What do you think? Do you like the Marco Polo TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
I think they should keep Marco Polo should still keep it running great show.I didn’t like the last episode where Marco & the gang go bck where they were all camped & nobody was there .I think they should at least let us know what happen to them .
I am heartbroken the show only had 2 seasons…..really sad news. Please renew
Having lived in China for over ten years, this is one of the few TV series I’ve seen that did a good job of telling the history of China during the Yuan Dynasty. I was in hopes that the rest of the Marco Polo story would get told, but I see that it’s not to be. How disappointing!
Please bring it back. The best series I’ve seen on Netflix.
We really enjoyed this show. We were disappointed to hear that you canceled the show and weren’t going to finish telling the historical story. We found Marco Polo after watching Troy where you finish telling the story. We are new to Netflix and were very disappointed that the second historical series we started to enjoy was not completed.
I loved that show, I was heart broken to find out it was canceled. The character development, the beautiful cinematography, the diversity. Why would they do that, surely there is a following. Please please please. Ring the show back.
Like reading that book which you can’t put down, this was an enthralling story and should not have been cancelled. Shame on you Netflix.
One of my absolute favorites. BRING IT BACK!
Oh bummer deluxe. One of the BEST series ever.
I watched both seasons of this show only to find out after that it had been cancelled and I would never get closure!! Netflix if you can’t bring back a third season at least give fans another episode or feature film to wrap up the story! This was an amazing show with breathtaking cinematography and entertaining storylines and some top notch acting.
It is a pity, that this show will be cancelled. It is very well made, with interesting characters and tells a great story. Why does NETFLIX not have the decency to end a show properly, even it is only within a few episodes?
Why do all of the GREAT shows get nixed?? Marco Polo was GREAT.
I can’t beleave that have cancelled this series, it grand, in loving and a story that is well told.
Whoever decided to cancel this show needs to have there head examined, and if it is due to rating then there are a lot of people, out there that should be ashamed of themselves for not watching this show.
The show was great but the long break between the 2nd and 3rd season starting filming was probably what did it in along with the costs of production. Wish they could have done a wrap up of the series in season 3 and moved on but they at least had a great ending at the kurultai.
Very sad, this was a fantastic show
