Last fall, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD looked like a sure-fire hit. While the season’s ratings were positive, the ABC execs certainly expected a lot better. Will the numbers rise in season two and lead to a third season or, could this show be cancelled if the ratings fall lower? Stay tuned.
On Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) has been appointed Director and has been tasked with rebuilding the agency. Who can he trust? The rest of the cast includes Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, and Elizabeth Henstridge.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/8 update: This series has been renewed for a third season on ABC.
Final season averages: 1.59 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.47 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Agents of SHIELD TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a third season?
This show other than the Avengers, cements the entire Marvel universe and provides an appreciation for the agents of shield who are constantly under-minded. This show is AWESOME and as a Marvel fan i’m glad that they’ve finally decided to introduce a TV series showing the development of the marvel universe.
My gal and I liked season 1 but quit this season. We enjoyed the original S1 team on the jet but in our opinion the show has unraveled with the addition of too many new characters. We just got into the Grant/Sky, Fitsimmons dynamic and it was gone. Poof! And so were we.
Love the show, it is amazing it’s on my list of must-see shows, however I am very ticked off that in every episode Colson’s team seems to lose more than win going up against the bad guys, that’s the main reason why the RATINGS FALL, nobody likes losers, I understand the need for slow story revelation; after all the story need to last for many episodes and possibly seasons, yet still maintain viewers interest, however! if Skye doesn’t learn to quickly master her powers, Fitz isn’t fixed soon and the two Shield factions instead of fighting against each other don’t… Read more »
This show is awesome! Maybe they would get a show to stick if they
didn’t take such big breaks! Just like most people…..I find a filler show
and watch agents of shield later on hulu! Im sick of waiting for months
between programs! It’s especially hard on this channel because of
stupid award season and dancing with the stars!
I love this show and I certainly hope that we may enjoy several more seasons of AOS. I think some people tuned out because they cannot handle story arcs. They need everything wrapped up in 60 minutes. Marvel is too good to pander to those with the attention span of gnats. The originality of the show is refreshing. Perhaps in the age of reality TV people have forgotten how to appreciate quality story telling.
I like the show, true this season was not as good as the first, and I know it’s because they are trying to build up to a climax, but the thing with TV is that you have to keep the audience in the loop, and you have to keep the main stars in view. I know they want to add drama and suspense but lets get to it already, and yes I do want a 3rd season, just don’t complicate the show so much that you wind up cancelling it before it can end. I have grown so tired of… Read more »
Personally I’m getting tired of watching the Skye show… and I stopped watching. This show had so much potential and it’s fallen flat and low ratings prove I’m not the only one tuning out. I really hope ABC realizes this and pulls the plug. This show sucks!
Nail on the head there. So much of the show revolves around this so uninteresting character. The last episode with Skye asking many minor characters if she was free to leave the Afterlife place was ridiculous. Her power seems capable of leveling mountains. Who’s going to get in her way?
The introduction of RealSHIELD left me bemused too. The whole premise of the conflict between the two groups of SHIELD agents exceeded my ability to suspend disbelief.
ratings aren’t low enough to scrub the series.
This has evolved into a truly excellent show. I was a skeptic after the first 2 episodes in season one but…the writers have weaved a very engrossing series. I certainly hope it is renewed. At the very least…give us closure! A 6 episode finale to wrap up the loose ends. Kudos to the writers, cast & crew. It’s been a fun ride!
Really LOVE this show . Plz don’t cancel it :'(
love this show
For this type of show, I don’t think these ratings are too bad. The second season has been amazing so far (the 3/3 episode was só emotionally beautiful and well-acted). I definitely hope they’ll renew it for at least another season. Too bad the first half of the first season wasn’t that good (ok, I loved it, but a lot of people didn’t, and I can see why), that has scared a lot of people off, and most of them haven’t returned to the show. At this moment, it’s the only show I really can’t WAIT to see every week… Read more »
My husband and I really like it. I hope it gets a third season.
notAMarvelFanTheseDays, what you’re saying is you wan’t rainbows, cupcakes and white ponies in a world where everything will be alright and nobody dies. You can find shows more suitable for your particular taste on the Disney channel. This show is gettting better and better and I hope it continues in the same tone as now.
better and better? really? then why are ratings going down?
The first season got so dry that I, and probably many others, quit watching. I caught up online after skye got powers and I heard inhumans were becoming a part of the show. I’m really please with this season(particularly Skye’s development as well as the introduction of the inhumans who will have a movie coming out soon).
I was disappointed the season wasn’t longer. I don’t understand all the negative comments. It is a fun and adventurous show with lots of twists and intrigue. I will continue to watch and buy the seasons when they are out. My grandchildren and I both enjoy the show. I was surprised that the first season interested me at all, but I found myself anxious to watch each show as they came out. I must agree that the show did spin away from what I had originally enjoyed about it, but I definitely believe it is a show that has the… Read more »
This was only the first half of the season.
It was the midseason finale that probably confused you with it being the end of the season.
Frankly, I’m not surprised. Perhaps it would do better on the SciFi channel, but for me, I enjoyed action adventure fun series and it started out that way, with lots of humor and an ongoing arc but with ‘yes, neat little one hour storylines’. But it was mainly the fun, adventure and humor. They went too dark for me, like so many others that I also don’t watch, and if that’s what they want, then they will have to compete against those other shows of the same type for the same smaller fan base. The movies keep a lot of… Read more »
I agree to a large extent… the tone of the show has shifted several times. If the writers or producers are doing that deliberately, as one might/should assume, I don’t understand their goal (or target demographic, or whatever). My wife and I are a bit older than Boomers but the Marvel franchise and all of the new ‘spinoffs’ from Agents of Shield (including Agent Carter) are quite appealing AND us old folks do very little BUT spend money… our lifetime savings, so maybe we should be considered a little, too? Maybe not. The tone and humor of Season One would… Read more »
