ABC surprised more than a few people when the network renewed Men in Trees for a second season. Great, but where did it go?
Marin Frist (Anne Heche) is a best-selling author and relationship coach who helps women find the right man, using her own life as an example. On a plane trip to attend an Alaska conference, she finds out that her finance has been cheating on her and realizes that she doesn’t know as much as she thought she did. Marin decides to stay in the remote town (where the ratio of men to women is 10 to one) so that she can truly learn how to find and keep a good man, and write a new book. The cast also features Abraham Benrubi, Emily Bergl, Seana Kofoed, Suleka Mathew, Derek Richardson, Sarah Strange, Cynthia Stevenson, Lauren Tom, James Tupper, and John Amos.
Men in Trees debuted on September 12, 2006 on ABC. Trees followed the Fall debut of Dancing with the Stars and attracted over 12.1 million viewers. The second episode lost a third of the audience and attracted just over eight million in its regular timeslot. Despite a season of ratings ups and downs, ABC renewed Men in Trees for a second year on March 21st.
Men in Trees has been off the air however since March 8th. ABC pulled the series to make room for the debut of October Road. Trees was originally scheduled to return on April 12th but ABC has reworked its schedule more than once, delaying the return each time.
ABC has now announced that Trees fans will have to wait a whole longer to see new episodes — probably five months. The remaining five episodes of season one will now be part of Trees’ second season, bringing the sophomore year episode total to 27.
Though frustrating and unusual, this isn’t unprecedented. Grey’s Anatomy and Boston Legal both had 27 episode sophomore years. There have been rumors that ABC may change their mind and decide to air the rest this season. We’ll keep you posted so stay tuned!
ABC doesn’t have that many good shows. They really can’t afford to be playing around with one of the few good ones they do have. Smarten up ABC, put Men In Trees back on before something on CBS or NBC grabs our attention.
I really love “Men In Trees”! It is the best new show I’ve seen in a long time! Great writing, good looking men, and just good acting all the way around. Please bring it back real soon and keep it on!!!
Men in Trees is so enjoyable…scenery is wonderful. Please bring it back. The writers do a great job.
The only romantic comedy my husband will watch with me is Men in Trees. Every Thursday night I would rush home from college to see this show. I am not much of a TV person, but this show has me hooked. I agree with most, any night will do just bring it back.
Please return Men in Trees it does not seem to matter what night it is on you have your fan base on any night. So why lose that!
Ok, seriously.. This is getting annoying with this show already. This is like the third time it has taken a *break* I’m starting to forget what happened in March. Here I waited over a month to watch a new episode and again it gets Postponed. This is my favorite show and it drives me crazy that it keeps getting replaced with shows that I have no interest in watching. Men In Trees pretty much didnt have a chance since it started. It was on what a few times before the 20/20 crap took it off for a few weeks in… Read more »
what is wrong with ABC? there’s so much on tv that is so stupid. they get a winner, and then stop airing it! what’s up with that?! BRING IT BACK, BRING IT BACK, BRING IT BACK!
I am 47 years old and I love Men In Trees. Great cast, heartwarming, but fun.I doesnt pay to watch anything, they take everything off . What happened to six degrees on abc, another show I loved.
I loved Men in Trees and couldn’t understand what happened to it until I checked this site out. I hope that you bring it back soon. With all negative crap that is on Television now a days, it is a breath of fresh air. Funny, romantic and great writing!!!! Finally we had something to look forward to and now what have you done?
Bringing back “Men in Trees” would be like a breath of cold fresh air on a hot humid day of 100 degree weather..it’s light, airy, warm and fuzzy, and has put back the “real” in real life situation tv shows…Bring it back full force!!!!!!!!!!Please…
I SURE MISS MEN IN TREES. THE SURE DEATH OF A SHOW IS FOR ME TO REALLY LIKE IT. I HOPE IT REALLY COMES BACK SOMETIME SOON.
I just wanted to chime in and let ABC hear, “Bring back “Men In Trees”!!!!!!!
Everytime I start enjoying a new series it switches nights or ends up being “put on hold” or I have to wait weeks for a new episode. They try and appease us with re-runs – who wants to watch re-runs during the regular season???
The network needs to “get their act together!!!” I am at the point of forgetting about network television and turning to cable series. They at least run new episodes.
Please bring back Men in Trees this season. I will not watch the new show that replaced it. My friends and I loved the show and all the characters. It’s fun and sexy!
How little respect ABC has for its viewers! They sure want our loyalty when there are ratings at stake, but when they get it, they have no consideration for our loyalty. A wonderful and clever show, with excellent writing and great casting. I’ve actually turned down social invitations to stay home and watch it! Only once in a great while does a show this clever get on the air…..and now what?
Whoever is in charge of programming needs to be told “You’re Fired!”. Seriously….how can any of these shows consistently attract an audience when the day and time slot keep changing? Thursday was an enjoyable evening of TV when Boston Legal was on after Grey’s Anatomy. Then Men in Trees came along and I thought, ok this has a slightly similar feel to Northern Exposure which was a great show, let’s give it a chance and poof, where did it go? While it is understanding that the network wants to use their best shows to promote new ones, at least keep… Read more »
