The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Miami Medical’s been cancelled or should it have been pulled awhile ago?

MIAMI MEDICAL WAS SO REFRESHING. LOOKED FORWARD TO IT EVERY WEEK IT WAS ON. YOU SHOULD TRY IT AGAIN. I WILL WATCH. THERE ARE ALOT OF REALLY BAD SHOWS ON TV, MIAMI MEDICAL WAS ONE OF THE BEST. TIRED OF BEING ON THE LOSING END OF THE PROGRAMING GAME.
Maybe I can now understand why CBS is in the crapper. Here was an entertaining show on an evening that offers little by way of intelligent entertainment and now it’s even emptier. Too bad, I enjoyed the show, the characters were interesting and the story lines were credible.
why ??? It was a great show !!!! I feel it was never really given a chance !!! Three rivers was alos good . Now they have also cancelled Mercy !!! What was there not enought blood and guts on these shows ??
I’m shocked it was cancelled.
This was a great series. I looked forward to it every week and made sure I had a Season Pass for it on TiVo. I hope someone picks it up.
This also was another good show and we looked forward to our Friday night line up with these characters. Does everyone live vicariously through other “real” folks. I watch TV for entertainment and this entertained me alot!
To cancel a medical show about the best trauma center in miami was not a good Idea. most tv show have pour start ratings that dose not make them a bad show , to pull the plug on. Look a Emergcy with 2 paramedic that worked as a team to save lives, and got the person to the hospital where a truma team or ER team was ready. But to pull a plug on a Miami Medical after 1 season, Jerry B. you did not give them a chance to servive or fight. I would like it back, I liked… Read more »
I’m so disapointed that you canceled the best show on tv .I didn’t miss a episode. should of tried to put it in another time slot ,a real dumb move take a great show off.
This show was awesome!!!!!! The first scene always caught you off guard….very dramatic! They should have given it a chance in another time slot….I know that it would have taken off if given the chance! Please bring it back!!!
NOO! I was really looking forward to the second season! This was one of mye favorite shows, just as good as my other favorites (gossip girl, vampire diaries, supernatural, desperate housewives and glee). I want Miami Medical back!!
Everytime I get interested in a new show, it’s cancelled (Miami Medical, Three Rivers, Flashpoint, etc.) Either that or they show one new episode and the rest are reruns. What’s up with that?
A great show that was given little hope of survival. Replaced Numb3rs which was also a good show, so it had little chance of survival to begin with. The network should have given us more shows to gather a following. Bring it back next summer and it should make believers of the network as well. Great cast, good writing; this show has potential.
I totally agree! I NEVER missed an episode! I absolutely loved this show!
This was a fresh idea for a medical show and should have been given more of a chance to succeed. I hate it was canceled so quickly…
I’ve been looking for this show on tv ever since I’ve been released from prison. Wanted my wife to take a look at it. I’m positive she would have loved it with no doubt. Bring back season two, pretty sure numbers will increase. Sometimes it takes patience to get you where you wanna be in life.
This is a show that should have been given more of a chance. It was a great show in a tough time slot. CBS and the entire TV landscape has not given great shows enough chance. In an age of instant success there are no more patience at the top. Noone that listens to the people. Only the numbers. Look at history. Star Trek comes to mind.
I completely agree. This show was great and it really makes me wonder what in the world the networks are doing. They get a great show and then knee-jerk a cancellation without putting any real thought into what they have.
