TV show description:
This medical drama follows the staff of Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon as they push their abilities and confront their personal and professional failings.
Doctors face life-and-death decisions every day as they fight against often-impossible odds to save their patients. When things don’t go as they should, it’s up to their medical colleagues to determine what went wrong and what can be learned.
Every Monday, the doctors of Chelsea General must gather with their peers for a confidential review of complications and errors in patient care.
Leading the hospital staff are Doctor Harding Hooten (Alfred Molina) and Doctor Jorge Villanueva (Ving Rhames).
Hooten is the steely-eyed Chief of Staff, speaks softly but carries a massive stick. He was nicknamed “Hardly Human” long ago for his exacting, punishing ways during the weekly morbidity and mortality meetings.
Villanueva, known as El Gato, is a giant of a man. He is also perhaps the most celebrated trauma chief in the country — clearly the elephant in this circus. El Gato’s seat-of-the-pants diagnoses are the stuff of legend around Chelsea General.
Their cadre of medical talent includes:
Doctor Tyler Wison (Jamie Bamber), a hotshot neurosurgeon who has a well-earned god complex. Doctor Tina Ridgeway (Jennifer Finnigan), a compassionate neurosurgeon who’s willing to fight for cases that may seem like lost causes to others. Her home life is in turmoil so she finds refuge at the hospital.
Doctor Sung Park (Keong Sim) is a Korean-American and is abrupt socially and English-challenged. He’s also ambitious to the core with his searing intensity being palpable. Doctor Sydney Napur (Sarayu Rao) is a cardiothoracic surgeon who’s married to the job. A compulsive multi-tasker, she speaks quickly and takes absolutely no prisoners.
Doctor Buck Tierney (Bill Irwin) is the hospital’s Chief of Transplantation. A man driven to the point of bullish, he is least liked among the Chelsea General staff. Doctor Michelle Robidaux (Emily Swallow) is a twenty-something resident. Inexperienced yet eager, she is finding her footing among experienced giants.
Episode #10 — Family Ties
Hooten and Buck find themselves facing off in court against attorney Mitch Tompkins (guest Anthony Heald) after a grieving son refuses to comply with his mother’s final wishes.
Sydney’s outrage over the health of a morbidly obese 16-year-old boy further strains her relationship with Lieberman (guest Jonathan Silverman). And a seemingly harmless patient (guest Kenneth Mitchell) puts one of Chelsea General’s own in grave danger.
First aired: April 8, 2013.
What do you think? Do you like the Monday Mornings TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for another season?
I LOVED Monday Mornings! I just expected it to return this fall, and I am crushed to find out it won’t be back. I watch 4 TNT series faithfully, 2on Monday, and 2 on Tuesday. They have lots of time Wednesday through Sunday to bring Monday Mornings back. I liked it so much I bought the book. Please bring it back for at LEAST one more season! Pretty please??? 🙁
Well, we can’t blame football, but hockey and other sports are on. Just don’t air it on a Monday. How about Thursdays? Too heck with ratings. We all rate it A+.
We love this show, dang it. Don’t take it off the air. We, especially me, love Alfred Molina. Great actors and writers. I love the feeling of “who is gonna get the wrench today?” Us seniors love movies like this. Good stories, no swearing, nudity or blood. Just makes you think and I love hospital shows. Too much garbage on TV. This is good stuff. Never mind the teenagers. Adults want good shows! Please don’t cancel!!!!! Thank you.
Really, Really Good TV. Writing , Acting , Realism, Entertainment Value!
Deserves to be on.
We were disappointed when Monday Morning was cancelled. Why was it cancelled? It was a great show. Did the medical field have a problem with it being too realistic?
I enjoyed the series and recorded it so I could watch it when I wasn’t home. With all of the reality shows taking over, it was refreshing to have something for intelligent viewers to enjoy. Bad call on your part TNT for cancelling.
I agree Sunny. If I’d known they were going to cancel, I would have recorded it. Why don’t they give us notice and we can put our 2 cents worth in beforehand!
It was a super fantastic show. Who decides whether a show is good or not? I don’t ever remember Hollywood asking for my opinion.
It was a great show. Do you really care if we like it or not?
what a great show! Bring it back!!!
I wonder if anybody is listening to us. Hollywood is going to do what they want no matter what the viewers say. If they would listen to what people really want we’d have a much better selection of good shows on TV. It’s really a shame, most of TV is just junk.
You are sooooo right. It’s amazing how new exciting innovative shows are dismissed and taken off the air only to have bad “remakes” of old shows. And I can’t stand reality shows. Who want’s to watch someone else’s life when living your own is difficult enough.
The producers feel that need to have their shows approved by the youth of America but in reality it’s the mature adults that are the ones they should cater to.
Only show I really looked forward to watching. A shame to cancel it.
Would like to see TNT or USA, A&E pick this show up, To good of a show (writing & acting) not to be on somewhere.
To many good series for older adults are being cancelled not fair we do not want reality TV or Vampire shows, get with it TV stinks these days.
We were stunned when we didn’t see “Monday Mornings” back on tv this spring. We thought it was one of the best new series we’d seen in awhile. And definitely the best medical show of the season. Probably too late to campaign to bring it back; all the fine actors on the show are surely in new enterprises by now.
they should put it back on and leave it alone. it was great. i have worked in the medical field for over 10 yrs. it was great. they need to put it back out there on tnt or let fox 6 or cbs yank it up.
