NCIS has some big changes ahead. The CBS drama is moving to a new night after 18 years and star Mark Harmon will likely have a reduced role on the series.
CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl spoke about Harmon’s role in the upcoming 19th season, per Deadline:
“Mark’s always been part of the show, Mark’s always going to be part of the show. In terms of his on-air appearances, we’re just going to have to see how it plays out going forward.”
At the end of last season, Gibbs’ boat exploded and Harmon’s character could be seen swimming away. Viewers will find out about his fate in the early episodes of season 19. As far as the show’s move from Tuesday to Monday nights, Kahl said the following, per TV Line:
“We hope to improve the [Monday] time period significantly, and we hope that it can be a strong lead-in to help launch NCIS: Hawai’i…. We realize that we can’t take [the time slot change] for granted. We have to help educate people and let them know where it’s moving to.”
NCIS returns to CBS on Monday, September 20th.
What do you think? Are you planning to keep watching NCIS on Monday nights? Will you continue to watch if Harmon isn’t on the series as much?
Alas, poor NCIS, I knew thee well….
You have destroyed NCIS! Putting it on Monday night is a death sentence, and to top it off yiu put two asinine shows on before it. Sorry, but I’ve been watching NCIS from the beginning. Tuesday night was a great spot, but with your idiotic thinking, I switched to another station for an hour, then back to CBS for NCIS, and I’ll switch back to something else come the 20th! Whether Harmon stays with the show or not, leaving them on Tuesday night amd let the remaining actors (who are ALL awesome actors) carry the show! All I can say… Read more »
Monday football will pre-empt the show. Bad choice of days. I’m very disappointed, been watching since the start.
Monday Night Football is on ESPN, which is cable and has different ratings. MNF appeals to men 18-54, which is not NCIS’ audience, If I were you, I’d worry about the 911 shows on Fox, the Voice and the Good Doctor.
I feel the ratings may go down if Mark Harmon is not going to be in that many episodes he is the main character and other characters keep leaving
No moving to monday means no ncis for me and i have no plans to watch ncis hawaii either. I have shows i watch each day on certain days also mark harmon makes tuesday nights with ncis so thats a hard no
I have watched NCIS from the beginning, and I will always watch this show no matter what night it’s on. It’s beautifully written, executed and I can’t wait for it to return. Love Gibbs and the whole team.
We will still, definitely be watching NCIS. We have never missed a show yet. We do hope to see Mark Harman in some of the episodes though. And yes, 8 to 9 pm airtime
would be preferred.
Yes we’ll be watching!!
Will still watch, hope it’s on at 8
With out Mark Harmon I will stop watching NCIS. He is the best
So is Mark Harmon going to be season premiere? If not would be watching this show one my favorite shows on cbs.
Yes but it needs to be on at 8 to 9
Will have to see, NCIS, without Mark Harmon! He is awesome, on the show!
Yes, I will still watch.
If Mark Harmon is gone, I will not watch it. He is the main reason everything else works.
