Does Max have more than he can handle in the second season of the New Amsterdam TV show on NBC? As we all know, the Nielsen ratings typically play a big role in determining whether a TV show like New Amsterdam is cancelled or renewed for season three. Unfortunately, most of us do not live in Nielsen households. Because many viewers feel frustration when their viewing habits and opinions aren’t considered, we invite you to rate all of the season two episodes of New Amsterdam for us here. *Status update below.
An NBC medical drama series, New Amsterdam stars Ryan Eggold, Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, Anupam Kher, and Tyler Labine. Doctor Max Goodwin (Eggold) is a caring physician whose goal is to fix a broken medical system and to provide exceptional care to the people who need it most. He inspires (almost) everyone around him, and will stop at nothing to breathe new life into the understaffed, underfunded and underappreciated New Amsterdam Medical Center. Those working with Max include Dr. Lauren Bloom (Montgomery), the head of the ER; oncologist Dr. Helen Sharpe (Agyeman); cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Floyd Reynolds (Sims); psychiatrist Dr. Iggy Frome (Labine); and Dr. Vijay Kapoor (Kher), head of the Neurological Department.
What do you think? Which season two episodes of the New Amsterdam TV series do you rate as wonderful, terrible, or somewhere between? Should NBC cancel or renew New Amsterdam for a third season? Don’t forget to vote, and share your thoughts, below.
*1/11/20 update: NBC has renewed New Amsterdam for three additional years — seasons three, four, and five — which will take it through the 2022-23 television season.
I love New Amsterdam great show
I love New Amsterdam and Ryan Eggold is such a versitile actor. I love the way his character figures out a way to get things done in an unconventional and unexpected way for the greater good. Please don’t cancel this great show.
great show… do not cancel. love it so much
Love New Amsterdam. So refreshing.
Based on social media sites most fans are tuning in to just to see Max and Helen’s relationship develop into a full fledged romance. I predict the writers’ will comply by mid to late season or they will lose viewers.
This is a great series! Uplifting, exciting, portrayed by fantastic actors and actresses. Please, stop cancelling the good shows! All that’s left is Reality tv and Netflix. Leave them alone. I mean, why would creators cancel such shows as Downton Abbey? Big Little Liars? DO NOT CANCEL AMSTERDAM. This is like another Grey’s Anatomy.
I was hooked since the beginning of Season 1..it never disappoints. The acting and the characters set this show apart from any other show, medical or not. I love the diversity of characters and how they interact with each other. Ryan Eggold is “Gold” and how his character cares about his patients and staff is incredibly inspiring. This is the Best show on network tv (along with This Is Us) and I tell everyone to watch it because I want them to love it as much as I do.
I love New Amsterdam because it’s UNLIKE any other medical drama created so far. It tackles serious issues with American healthcare and offers possible solutions. It’s got great scripts and the acting is terrific. It is NOT a love soap opera set in a hospital. But it’s got plenty of “love” in the stories and performances. AND it is informative: issues about mental health, cost of insulin, homeless people on the nearby streets, the DIRE need for more compassion and engagement from doctors for their patients–we ARE not just diseases and injuries to be dealt with and BILLED to death.… Read more »
I’m not sure what I think. For a show about the healthcare system that’s described as uplifting and hopeful, it certainly went down a dark path beginning with the death of Max’s wife on the day their baby is born (no less). Apparently, the continuing story line will be Max not only dealing with his cancer, but his grief over the death of his wife and mother of his poor newborn baby as well. I assume they’ll have their usual theme of having the other 5 “DamFam” hospital group coming to his emotional rescue, but I hate to see the… Read more »
Couldn’t wait for the new season of New Amsterdam and it didn’t disappoint. I rarely watch TV but make sure I watch this one.
I love New Amsterdam and last nights show was great!! The actors are terrific and play there roles so well!! Only problem I had was the way it ended. Was devastated when Georgia was the one who died! I cried my eyes out! The writers said Max would never be a single father! Huh? What happened with that? Outside of that show was great and Ryan Eggold was phenomenal as always!!
Loved the 9/24 episode. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see who survived the accident. Loved the way they worked Kapoor’s age insecurity & questioning his “worth” into the story line & developed it, weaving it to its ultimate end, diagnosing the lady’s problems giving him a feeling of satisfaction that “he still has what it takes”. I applaud the actors & writers for a performance & storyline that makes us want the story to go on & can’t believe when our hour together is up.
I thought the opening show was outstanding. The acting, drama, pace left me so excited to see the next episode. I’ve been waiting since the tragic accident to see what happened. What a cliffhanger. The writers, producers, directors and actors in this show are phrnominal. I hope this show stays on for years to come.
9/24 show was one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time. Kudos to the actors, producers, writers, directors for excellent programming. Hope this show runs for years to come. Love it!
I really love New Amsterdam. I hoping you don’t cancel it because we want to se the season 2 desperate
