Can Doctor Goodwin change the medical system — and get people to watch the NBC series? As we all know, the Nielsen ratings typically play a big role in determining whether a TV show like New Amsterdam is cancelled or renewed for season two. Unfortunately, most of us do not live in Nielsen households. Because many viewers feel frustrated that their viewing habits and opinions aren’t considered, we’d like to offer you the chance to rate all the season one episodes of New Amsterdam. *Status update below.
A medical drama series, New Amsterdam stars Ryan Eggold, Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, Anupam Kher, and Tyler Labine. Doctor Max Goodwin (Eggold) is a caring and charming physician whose goal is to fix a broken medical system and to provide exceptional care to the people who need it most. He inspires (almost) everyone around him, and will stop at nothing to breathe new life into the understaffed, underfunded and underappreciated hospital.

2/4/19 Status Update: NBC has renewed New Amsterdam for a second season.
Show is pretty much a liberal, moralizing soap opera set in a hospital. Max struts the halls with a kind of Joe Cool attitude. Hard to believe he’s supposed to be undergoing debilitating chemo and radiation. Now we’re supposed to buy into some sort of relationship between him and his oncologist, ignoring the ethics involved and the pesky fact that he also has a pregnant wife at home. Think the critics initial poor reviews are right after all.

Have just picked up this show on Netflix in England and am absolutely hooked. I was able to watch the first 13 episodes back to back so really got involved in the show. I have just read that it has been picked up for a second series so am absolutely delighted!! Well done to all the cast and writers!
I love this show too. I am so glad it renewed. We watch it as a family each week or binge watch a couple of recorded epispdes when we have time to get caught up. We have not missed an episode. You get to know and love the cast and characters. Fantastic show!
Love this show. It is so much more than just a new medical drama. The characters are so unique and compelling and Ryan Eggold does an amazing job with the range of emotion his character goes through as he operates the hospital and deals with his own failing health.

Can’t wait to watch again this heartwarming show every week. Max and s such a genuine Doctor and cares about his patients without regard to cost.

I love the show very much and I thing this show was rated number one in fall… please keep this show on it is wonderful story a amazing what people can do for each other when you are sick and you must go to hospital….. I am heart and stroke patient fighting heart disease for 19 years and in 1984 had a clip aneurysm in brain….. go go go go doctors love us thank you
