An NBC drama series, the Ordinary Joe TV show stars James Wolk, Natalie Martinez, Elizabeth Lail, Charlie Barnett, David Warshofsky, and Teddy Sears with Adam Rodriguez, Jack Coleman, Christine Adams, Joe Carroll, Rushi Kota, Jason Burkey, and Gabrielle Byndloss in recurring roles. The show follows young Joe Kimbreau (Wolk) as he makes a pivotal and life-changing decision at his Syracuse University graduation. The three parallel stories that diverge from that night find Joe and the people around him with different careers, relationships, and family lives. The three tales each follow Joe some 10 years after his graduation: following in his father’s footsteps, as a police officer; following his passion, as a music star; and after he marries his love, as a nurse.

*3/4/2022 update: NBC has cancelled the Ordinary Joe TV show after one season.
I love this show! Started watching from the first episode. At first it was confusing, but got it figured out. I love the characters and story line and was looking forward to this show filling the void that will be left when This is Us is over. Please don’t cancel!
Great, innovative show with great actors. It takes several shows to get the hang of it, and learn the relationships in the 3 storylines and their roles
I’m enjoying Ordinary Joe and I’m 71. It’s fresh and I’ve never seen a format like this. Most everything else on TV is boring, predictable, and nasty. Don’t cancel Joe.
I am also 71 and I agree with you
I loved this show – thought it such an interesting concept. It could be confusing with the 3 different “paths/lives” playing out in each segment. It drove my husband crazy, but I thought it was cool.. The letter episode finally explained more details about how the 3 paths began. I’m tired of a lot of the mindless shows so I enjoyed the complexity and felt it was worthwhile , Felt Wolk was talented & excellent. Someone mentioned the disabled son – he was very good & what a good vocalist. While others had negative comments, I thought all the acting… Read more »
I have really enjoyed the show. I love each individual characters. Great job of casting. Makes one think about the main choices and how much different your life could/would have been if?? I would be disappointed if this show was cancelled…..I’m tired to getting into a story and then it’s cancelled…frustrating!!
Love the show. Heartfelt, intriguing, and relatable. Who hasn’t wondered what if. Skewed for young audience w/limited attention spans. Needs to stay on individual storylines a little longer for older generations who appreciate details and character development. Wolk is the best!
I find this show refreshing and fascinating. Appealing characters, good actors, no violence! I would be greatly disappointed if it were cancelled. Competing with Monday nite football is not a fair time slot.
Please consider all the people who watch from streaming. This is a good show it has not gotten the advertisement it should. It is not hard to follow at all. The people who think it is must be trying too hard. If you can follow this is us you can for sure follow ordinary Joe.
I find the story lines intriguing and heartwarming but if not watching the show carefully it can be confusing. One of the best characters of the show is the son. I would continue to watch if it’s renewed but it’s not a favorite show that I would miss.
I love them show! I think the concept is clever. I did NOT have any trouble following the storyline. James Wolk is wonderful, and the supporting cat is great! Shout out to the young actor playing Joe’s son! Love that kid,!
I really hope it gets renewed!
I have to disagree with all the negative comments below. But, yes it was and is confusing but also intriguing and never boring. I guess I’m not looking for ‘hot’ but ‘good’ acting. I watched the first 2 episodes and then started taking notes. I have never done that for a TV show before so I guess that means its interesting enough to make it a class project (a class of 1). Actually, my son is watching it also and once we have seen the current episode we talk about the most confusing parts and try to help each other.… Read more »
Please boost your ratings look forward to seeing it. New show look forward love this show never missed any episode of it. Enjoy it and love it.
The first episode was OK. The second episode, I only made it half way through.
I find is boring.
I like the concept of “Ordinary Joe” (What if), but it is very confusing. Not only do they not separate each of his lives, they intermingle with each other. And he doesnt look all that different. Just long hair for Rocker. But the other two look alike except for the glasses. I’m still not sure what kind of work the one with glasses does for work. Some kind of medical? The writers/producers had a good idea, but they made it too confusing. They should have formatted it like “Life in Pieces” with each life having its on segment.
I watched the first episode of Ordinary Joe and will probably not watch any others. It did not hold my interest at all with all the flipping and no content of how he got to any of his decisions. I wasn’t really impressed with the acting either. Sorry, I thought it would be another addition to my list.
Feeling a bit the same. Having 3 stories to follow at the same time and constantly flipping between them was pretty difficult to follow. MAYBE after a few episodes it will be easier to follow the story lines as we become more familiar with the characters. It’s a shame because I was really looking forward to watching this series. I won’t give up yet, but not sure if it will last the entire season. Too bad, because the characters are interesting & likable.
Agree completely. I LOVE James Wolk. He is so hot, omg. But the writing on Mad Men gave Bob Benson such a complexity that it made me remember and wonder about a small handful of scenes for ten years or more. I was starving for more of his story. In contrast, I couldn’t even get through a whole episode of Ordinary Joe. The bit about him being late for his own graduation just seemed so contrived and silly. I stayed with it as long as I could, maybe half an hour, but it was a grind.
This show is boring and confusing. I was hoping to like it.
