What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the FOX television network, The Orville stars Seth MacFarlane, Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon, Halston Sage, J Lee, and Mark Jackson. The sci-fi action-adventure series centers on Captain Ed Mercer (Seth MacFarlane), of The U.S.S. Orville, and First Officer Kelly Grayson (Palicki) — his ex-wife. Whether facing off with the Krill, a dangerous alien race, or attempting rescues on behalf of the Planetary Union, the human and alien crew still must deal with their mundane issues and each other.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of The Orville averaged a 0.75 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.16 million viewers. Compared to season one, that is down by 40% and 27%, respectively. Find out how The Orville stacks up against the other FOX TV shows.
The Orville has been renewed for a third season. However, the series is moving to Hulu. Season three will debut on June 2, 2022. Stay tuned for further updates.

Will The Orville be cancelled or renewed for season three? Right now, it is too soon to judge by the ratings, but I am sure FOX will pick up another installment, because it has been approved to receive California tax incentives for a third season. Remember, entertainment aside, television is a numbers game, and the most important numbers involve money. Still, I’ll keep an eye on the Nielsens and update this page with any breaking developments. The show is good and I hope they renew it. Let’s hope they keep streaming sites in mind. I have never caught an episode of it not on hulu.
Some episodes are really good – some are not. (This season made that very clear). Overall it is a much better show than the new Star Trek. Seth has done a good job with it. I would agree to go on.

The Orville is the best SF-Serie I’ve seen since the last 20 Years. In season 2 the crew is going into my heard, The Orville is winning profile. Since the Episodes Identity pt.1+2 the serie has become cinema-niveau! Season 2 gives us much potential on stuff for many more seasons of the Orville! I LOVE THE ORVILLE! When it’s in season I watch it religiously. I make sure the kids are down and everything is done before I start wacthing my series of Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Then the Orville. My and my husband lay back, smoke some marijuana, and enjoy the show! Please don’t take it away from all of us Orville Fans! GIVE US SEASON THREE PLEASE DEAR GOD!
I love the Orville and hope it renews. I would be sorry to see it go. The second season is much better than the first. Wish the Nielsens reflected that.
Well honestly I like the Orville, it has lots of funny moments. For being a sci-fi show like star trek it’s serious but more down to earth feel. But if they do decide to cancel I really hope they do the right thing with no hangers. Not like the TerraNova series great show then canceled with a major hanger.
we loved TerraNova – then nothing – canceled out of nowhere. it seems when my family really likes a series, the network cancels it – so we’ve tried to not really get too interested in them – but couldn’t resist The Orville. will be heartbroken if it doesn’t get renewed. we watch only 4 TV series right now – Big Bang Theory – 9-1-1- – Roswell, New Mexico – and The Orville – – already losing Big Bang Theory – don’t wanna lose anymore!!
I am a 67 years old, retired US Air Force military gentleman. I have been in the IT field since 1976 (43 years). Personally, I love The Orville. Mankind is now in the early days of “actually developing” warp field technology, which as it evolves would change the people of Earth into a interstellar space faring civilization.
