Our Kind of People wrapped its first season on FOX this week, and viewers are wondering if a second season is possible. The series ended with a shocker, which would leave fans with an unresolved cliffhanger if the low-rated show were to be cancelled.
Starring Yaya DaCosta, Morris Chestnut, Joe Morton, Nadine Ellis, Lance Gross, Rhyon Nicole Brown, Kyle Bary, and Alana Bright, the series follows an enterprising and single mother named Angela Vaughn (DaCosta) in a fictional town near Martha’s Vineyard.
Karin Gist, the creator of the FOX drama, said the following about the future of the series, per Deadline:
“Knock on wood that we get a season two. The studio and the network have been so supportive. I think they’re creatively happy with the show, so I think it’s a really good and positive sign. I have lots of great ideas for season two that I’ll be pitching very soon. I’m very, very encouraged by the possibility of continuing to tell this story because I think we still have so much more to do.”
Gist also teased about what fans would see happen in the second season of Our Kind of People:
“If we get a second season, it’s going to be even more explosive. There will be more family complications, about the sisters, and bringing the family back together. I’m also excited about adding some new characters that shake up the world a bit and exploring the themes of power and access. I think that’s really relevant to what’s going on in our country, particularly through the lens of this really wealthy African American family. I’m really excited about where we could take this show and I know the audience is too.”
Ratings for the series were up for the season finale but the show’s been one of FOX’s lowest-rated shows of the season. A decision on the series’ future will likely be made by May.

I love love love this show, it needs more publicity and advertising because a lot of people don’t know about this shows !!! ❤️❤️❤️ We have to get a second season this so IT IS A MUST 2nd 3rd & 4th seasons ❤️❤️❤️
Our Kind of People is a wonderful show and that season finale was indeed a shocker. I love the cast and the story. These are first class actors and they and we the fans deserve better than a cancellation. It definitely deserves a second, third and more seasons. If anyone cares or if it matters I’m white.

YES. you left a mystery to revealed. So many unasked questions, I believe most viewers are watching it on Hulu rather Fox during its premiere times. Please renew Our Kind of People for a season 2. I have been watching reruns during the season and after.
Loved the series I didn’t know of it. I beiged watched the whole thing. When I got to season 1 episode 11, I saw Debbie Morgan and Darnell Williams, the thrill i got was priceless. Great show, more of Aunt Piggy and Darnell’s character.

There definitely should be a Season 2! And better promotion of Season 2 will increase the ratings. There are a lot of people who would watch the show if they knew about it.
We definitely need to see a Season 2 of this show! I really enjoyed watching a show about Black people who are doing something different than the typical shows we see. It would be a big disappointment for the network to cancel this show, please bring back another season! Otherwise, what was the purpose of setting up this storyline?

New show, word of mouth is spreading…wonderful last episode ..cliffhanger!!! this is an entertaining show with strong actors…it’s not a black show…it’s a great show. Reminds me of Dallas and Dynasty…dating myself, but so what!!!
