First, FOX cancelled Lone Star and then, ABC cancelled My Generation. Not wanting to be left out, NBC has now cancelled Outlaw. The Jimmy Smits series has ceased production but viewers will still be able to see the remaining episodes.
Outlaw follows a Supreme Court Justice (Smits) who decides to step down and go back to being a lawyer in order to fight injustices. The NBC series also stars Carly Pope, David Ramsey, Jesse Bradford, and Ellen Woglom.
The series debuted following the season finale of one of NBC’s biggest shows, America’s Got Talent, and could only attract moderate ratings. In its regular Friday night timeslot, Outlaw’s ratings have gone from bad to worse. This past Friday, the show hit a new low in the 18-49 demographic with a 0.9 rating and fell to just 4.10 million viewers. It was in last place in both categories.

As we previously reported, NBC shut down production last week, supposedly wanting to wait to see if viewership got better in later weeks. If that was actually the case, they didn’t wait very long. Outlaw has been cancelled and the cast and crew won’t be returning to production.
For the time being, NBC will fill the 10pm timeslot with an expanded edition of Dateline. The four remaining episodes of Outlaw will be seen on Saturday nights starting on October 16th. An episode won’t be seen on October 30th because of a previously schedule Shrek special. The last episode of Outlaw will air on November 13th.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see it go? Why do you think it didn’t attract a bigger audience?

I am very disappointed to hear Outlaw has been cancelled. I’ve been waiting for it’s return, thinking after the holidays it would be back. It’s a shame that quality shows get cancelled, yet rubbish reality t.v. remains on the air. Extremely disappointed with NBC.
I can’t believe OutLaw has been canceled. The entire cast was great and I looked forward to watching the show. Please, Please, Please bring the show back. I am so tired of the reality junk.
This show was so good! The story lines were great. The writing was interesting always a twist away from the predictable. Change the time slot, but please bring the show back. Get it right!
this really sucks about outlaw being cancelled, its a good clean family show they keep these stupid vulgar shows on you have an 87% of people voted that they should not cancel the show. Are you kidding me? i’m very disappointed!!!!!!!!
This is one of the reasons why we stopped watching shows on NBC. It was heartbreaking enough when Cheers was cancelled, but we are really upset! We enjoyed every minute of every episode and made Outlaw part of our weekly ritual. From now on, we’ll stick with CBS. Thanks for nothing, NBC!
This is the reason why NBC is doing so poorly they cancel the good shows. No one wants to watch them in fear that NBC will cancel it.
First show in a very long time that I actually looked forward to watching. Kept thinking it was holiday programing interfering with episodes. Really dissapointed when I found out it was cancelled.
The weakest program was the 1st one. Others were better. The Friday time slot was poor if you are looing for more viewers. You quick judgement was far too quick.
Once again a quality TV show has been cancelled, but the reality garbage shows live on; the TV networks are dumbing down America to our least common denominator.
It was my favorite show. I loved the cast. This is so disappointing
Outlaw to me was a great series, maybe on the wrong night but still a great series. It had all the qualities of being a top series. How can you take a show and only run it for less than 3 months and say it had bad ratings. I personally would like to see the series continue but what do I know. Wrong night, place it in a slot where there is another program running that is quite good and see what happens, you do it all the time.
I love the show I had my DVR set to record it each week. I am sure there are many other shows that could have gotten the boot.
My whole family liked the show. If their demographic was 19-49 year olds, why would they air the show on Friday nights? What are most 19-49 year olds doing on Friday and Saturday nights? Not watching TV! If they want better ratings they need to air it on a night when that demographic is home!!!
I liked it as well. My whole family did. It was very
interesting and different. I get tired of all of the crime and law
shows being the same or similar.
I really liked Outlaw. Why are you not taking off the outragous reality shows. Who the hell cares about those. I want to be entertained. I was completely entertained by the show Outlaw. The characters were really well fleshed out and intreging and the story lines were up to date and completely watchable. NBC you really suck for cancelling this show.
