The little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.
Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.
The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have gone as low as a 1.4 in the demo with just 2.97 million viewers. Those are horrible numbers for a major network, even NBC.
Outsourced’s season currently averages a 2.1 demo rating and 4.55 million viewers. For NBC, that’s not too bad but the average is only that high because of the early season ratings.
It’s certainly not a shocker than NBC has cancelled Outsourced after just one season. The 22nd and final episode, titled “Rajiv Ties the Bharat, part two,” aired last night.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season of Outsourced? Why do you think the TV show didn’t catch on?

Oh no oh no oh no oh noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
I loved the characters. Charlie was my favorite. I think the show was funnier in the beginning. I think a season 2 was deserved.
Outsourced made me laugh out loud the only other show to do that is the office so sad
Weird, the finale aired last night but it’s been up on Hulu for a week? Did they ever consider how that might mess with the ratings in general? I don’t watch it on the television but wait till it’s on Hulu.
Go figure this is why most won’t get involved with a television series; it gets to die before really being picked up.
NBC have to get one thing through their tiny minds. People aren’t watching their shows not because they’re bad but because people know that a lack of backbone will soon see them cancelled. I cannot understand how a possible long distance runner gets cancelled by the network that had similar experiences with ‘Friends’, which didn’t rate too well in the beginning but in retrospect became one of the best if not the best sitcom ever produced. If ‘Heroes’ was given two more (undeserved) seasons after the unpolished **** that was season 2, ‘Outsourced’ deserved much better treatment. Get it NBC?… Read more »
I LOVED this show. I too was only able to watch it on demand. I hope another network picks it up and knows when to market it. One of the funniest shows in a LONG time.
NBC wake up, this is a winner!
I am soooooooooooo upset that they cancelled Outsourced. I have had it with these networks not even giving these shows a chance. I think (if they were smart) they would realize that one of the reasons that the show lost viewers, is the changing of the time slot…why the heck would you change the time if your viewership is good? They usually only start doing that to struggling shows. The networks are starting wayyy too many new shows and cancelling shows left and right even after only a couple of episodes..no wonder people are afraid to get into a show… Read more »
This is truly a shame, I understand the ratings are low, but at the same time NBC has to understand the people that enjoy the show are likely not to rate… that’s just how business is, when someone doesn’t like something, they will vote/speak up, and when they are satisfied, they simply don’t say anything. I can understand how some people think its racist, however it shows different cultures and proves that regardless if support is outsourced or not every office is the same, and shows Americans who they are talking to on the other end of the line (since… Read more »
Wtf!! I loved the show!! NBC needs to air season 2 of Outsourced!!!
the show was great and i hope a cable network picks it up
What a shame! What a great cast…Charlie, Gupta, Todd, Asha (HOT!), Rajiv, Manmeet…Great production-number/star turn for Gupta to lead off an episode. The most enjoyable new show to be on in years and NBC simply had it on too damn late! Very funny. Charlie really developed into a great character. They should have kept the Todd/Asha plot-line front and center from the top-that story arc just fizzled and they brought in Pippa Black, who was fine, but Asha was HOT. This show kicked Modern Family’s arse up and down the street. Much smarter, hipper, funnier, raunchier, urbane than that lame-arse… Read more »
I am very disappointed to hear NBC cancelled. I wonder if they take into account how many people watch it on demand or tevo the show. I was not always available to watch it when it aired but i would watch it on demand as soon as it was available. I hope another network picks up the show and crushes NBC in the ratings. NBC must stand for nobody cares… because they sure don’t care what people like
I am really upset, I loved the show
I know right
What a shame. This was the best show in years. I finally had somehting to look forward to. The time change must have really hurt the show. I made an exception to stay up for it, but I preferred the earlier time.
NBC shouldn’t have canceled it. It is hilarious and never seemed to let me down!
I hope another network picks it up. They could do great things with season two!
