Episode 01-02: Thursday, 9/29/11
Episode two came down 13% in the demo to a 2.7 rating and 12.51 million. It was fourth in its timeslot. The network was down by 13% year-to-year and this new series is currently ranking in the middle of the pack on CBS. If the ratings keep going down like this, it won’t take much for Person of Interest to be in the bottom tier and be in serious danger.
Season average: 2.9 demo with 12.92 million.
Episode 01-01: Thursday, 9/22/11
This new drama had some positive reviews but didn’t deliver particularly strong ratings. The first episode garnered a 3.1 in the 18-49 demographic and 13.33 million viewers. It was in fourth place for the timeslot. Year-to-year, aging CSI’s last season debut did 9% better in the demo and 10% better in total viewers.
Some commenters on this site indicated that they felt the pacing was very slow and that seems to match up with the quarter hour breakdowns. Person of Interest started with a 3.3 in the demo and finished with a 2.9 rating. While these numbers aren’t bad, they are hardly what CBS was hoping for.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the new Person of Interest TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Michael Emerson (new to us for sure) and Jim Caviezel are truly AMAZING together; your casting for those 2 characters are right on. We have only seen thw show twice but we are hooked . . . . please give it a chance & don’t even think of canceling so early. At first we felt there probably could be some sort of explanation of the premise at beginning of each show, for instance why does character Harold have a limp?? That might be up for consideration, you may find that it takes viewers 1/2 of an episode to begin to… Read more »
What does CBS expect?? All pf their shows are slow and/or dark. If that’s the target audience you ate going for then you need to be patient get the word out and let them come. This is a great show and I’m telling everyone I know about it. Just don’t ax it before you have a chance to build a dedicated audience! I have an issue with the shallowness of defective Carters character but otherwise I love this show and it’s one of my new fall favorites. I just think they should have waited to introduce the police curiosity angle… Read more »
Yeah, they didn’t really need the police curiousity stuff, and it would’ve been better introduced later in the show; I would’ve liked those minutes devoted to Harold’s and Reese’s characters — which says a lot, I think, about how enjoyable those two are to see on the screen. Of course, if the police angle wasn’t there, some viewers might be asking, “Isn’t it strange that they can get away with all of this without the police noticing??” (not that I would’ve cared)
Last night’s episode was great! I liked how they gave us some more of the backstory subtly, without shoving it down our throats. Did you see that plaque at the end? The death date was 2010 — and something tells me this has something to do with the reason why Harold walks with a limb now and has such trust issues. Reese better watch out, look what happened to the billionaire’s last partner. Anyhow, the little cat-and-mouse game between them, with Reese trying to find more out about Harold and Harold attempting to stay one step ahead of him at… Read more »
I really enjoyed the show. I hardly watch television anymore but will tune back in for this show. Like the premise and the acting. Look forward to seeing the back story continue to develop.
This is a great show! I agree it needed a better time slot liked it so much better than “Unforgettable”. So on Thursday night I’ll wade through or watch another station until it comes on. Great acting by both actors and they play well off each other. It very much holds my interest. Great plot twists. A winner for sure needs to stay on the air for years to come! New and inventive idea. Love some of the lines in it too. Great mystery and action all into one. Still with the great writing, directing and the acting talents of… Read more »
What an awesome show….one of my family fav so far.
Its also the show that everyone’s talking about at work …etc
They pick the perfect actors to work together Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson are amazing …..can’t wait until the next show
Finally! an awesome show, fantastic story and great casting….in the quagmire of crap (reality tv) that is dominant on television nowadays, this program stands out
It was thinking outside the box! A couple of do-good guys taking down the bad guys without all the blood and doing it quite cleverly. Both my wife and I will watch again. Nice casting too.
This show is fantastic and needs to have a continuation of seasons as long as possible, at least 2 seasons and up. Great story line and actors teamed (Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson are amazing together), it deserves every chance of competing against other shows….it has great interest as far as Im concerned! CBS, keep it on board as long as possible!!! Dont jump ship yet!
I really liked the show and very much hope it continues.
What does CBS expect. If they wanted this show to succeed they would have given it the Tuesday night slot after their NCIS shows. This slot already favors Unforgettable and Person of Interest is better. Instead they stick it in the quagmire that is Thurday night.
It’s gonna die there, which is too bad because it was the networks highest testing pilot in years. What a waste.
I really liked it and I DVR’d the whole show. I like both characters and the plot twist and the things Jim does are way out of the ordinary. You better keep this show CBS, it has great potential.
I love JC. The concept of this show is incredible, the acting is great, the story line was spot on and had me in anticipation for much of the 2nd half of the Pilot.
Looking forward to more episodes.
Can’t wait for more Episodes. I like the premises. The acting is great.
People who lost patience and tuned out missed out on a great show.
Agreed!
“Is that where he is? Witness Protection?”
“No, Fusco, he’s in the trunk.”
Haha.
