The peacock network recently premiered a new mystery series for the summer called Persons Unknown. Will the series last? Will viewers get answers to their questions or be left hanging?
Persons Unknown revolves around a group of strangers who wake up in a strange hotel and find that they’re in a ghost town and unable to leave. They see security cameras observing them and their unknown captors create mistrust among the group by offering freedom if they hurt the others. The cast includes Chadwick Boseman, Lee Purcell, Jason Wiles, Andy Greenfield, Daisy Betts, Tina Holmes, Alan Ruck, Kate Lang Johnson, Sean O’Bryan, and Gerald Kyd.
The NBC mystery series debuted on June 7th to very disappointing ratings. The premiere attracted a poor 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 4.38 million viewers. That represents a distant third place for the timeslot and is an even worse performance than last year’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.
In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.2 rating and 3.52 total viewers. Episode three’s ratings dropped even further to a 1.0 in the demo and only 2.87 million viewers. How much lower can the numbers go?
The network is promoting Persons Unknown as a mini-series and say that all viewer questions will be answered by the end of the 13th episode. There have been talks that if the show is successful, it could return for a second season (like CBS’ Harper’s Island). The series was created with international buyers in mind so if it’s successful in other countries, year two could be forthcoming (ala The Listener). However, with ratings like these, NBC wouldn’t likely have an interest in buying it.
Actually, the peacock network could pull the show off the air before all of the current episodes have even aired. NBC has moved it up to 8pm for the next couple weeks, trying to attract a few more viewers. Hopefully, the network will let all 13 episodes air and allow faithful viewers to see the story reach its conclusion. At this point, a move to Saturday nights or forcing people to watch episodes online wouldn’t come as a surprise.
What do you think? Is Persons Unknown worth watching or would you just cancel it before all the episodes have aired?

Please keep the show. It is great!
KEEP IT, I loved it. Just watched 13 episodes! What a great finale! Ready for Season 2!!!
plz dont cancel. Me and my husband was addicted to lost. We have every box set and never missed an episode. Well, I am proud to say that this is by far 100 times better and suspensful than lost. By far my favorite series. Plz make a season 2 FAST… I’m so addicted to it and I loved this show… If there is a season 2, it will be so awesome. On a boat??? And in the town… Whooa…… 🙂
Really liked the show. I’d love to see more!
Not only will I not watch it should they bring it back for a second season, but I will no longer bother to watch ANY new NBC series, until after they have survived a season, if then. Not only did they preempt three episodes, and never show them, but they lied! It was advertised as a mini-series, and they claimed that “by the end of summer, all will be revealed.” All was NOT revealed. It had real potential, but the way they aired it, along with their steaming pile of crapola about it being a mini-series, really ticked me off.… Read more »
One of the best ever seen. With every part I wanted to see next right away. There just has to be season2!!
oh Mercy was another good show that many people liked and NBC canceled it which was a dumb idea…. bring back mercy and persons unknown !!!
I think NBC would be stupid not to keep it … its one of those shows that will gain viewers after the first season… it needs more advertising and maybe not put it on TV durind the summer … i think its a great show and has a lot of potential. please dont write it off completely.
They should keep the show. It’s one of my favorites. I may not watch it one the weekend; but have watched all espisodes on demand TV. It would be a great loss to see the show not air next season.
dont cancel this … love to see the season 2 …
After I finally found when it was on( wasn’t easy!), I couldn’t stop watching it. I would love to see more! Bring it back and don’t make it so hard to find!
Keep It!!! Its slow moving but worth watching… hopefully there will be a second season!
it was hot.am waiting for season 2 pls.
Wasn’t made to look very interesting..but what caught my eye the most was it’s name. Started watching it..was very intrigued. With every episode I watched..I had to watch the next. Now that I’ve seen them all..It’s quite hard to believe that there where so little viewers. Very good show. Would love to see a season two next year. The show could go so many diff ways.NBC,…if you really wanted your moneys worth, you wouldve found a legitimate reason for more veiwers to watch this show, its truly worth a second season.
PLEASE, PLEASE BRING PU BACK FOR SEASON 2!!! It gets frustrating when the Networks pull good shows and leave viewers hanging. There are so few good shows on TV, let’s keep the good ones going!
