Last year, The CW’s Riverdale TV show wasn’t in much danger of being cancelled. Its first season ranked sixth on the network, in terms of both its demo ratings and total viewership. Now it’s proving time for the Archie Comics-inspired series. Has the novelty worn off, or can this show build up its audience in the second season? Will Riverdale be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned.
A CW mystery drama, Riverdale stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Marisol Nichols, Madelaine Petsch, Ashleigh Murray, Mädchen Amick, Mark Consuelos, Casey Cott, Skeet Ulrich, and Luke Perry. While Jason’s (Trevor Stines) killer was discovered by the end of the first season, in season two there’s more trouble afoot in Archie Andrews’ hometown, and it has struck at the heart of his family. Someone has shot his father, Fred (Perry), and Riverdale is in upheaval.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/17 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
For comparisons: The first season of Riverdale on The CW averaged a 0.39 rating in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic and a total audience of 1.042 million viewers.
What do you think? Do you like the Riverdale TV series? Should this CW TV show be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
4/2/18 update: The CW has renewed Riverdale for season three for the 2018-19 season. Details here.
Mark Consuelos is the kiss of death for every show. If he’s on it, it’s cancelled.
I definitely think Riverdale should get a season 3, It’s fun suspenseful and just a very well thought out show, I get excited each week when it comes on and the cast is AMAZING especially Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) whose character is sassy, gothic, exciting and beautiful and she’s just one character from the list of extrondinary talent so season 3 can’t wait for you to spin our heads again.
Cheryl Blossom is the only reason I keep watching. But God, this show is **** af. The main 4 are so boring.
Ugh please don’t cancel this show is too good!!!!!
I love this show I hope it stays open =….(
Well Hard to say it is good or bad show, I like Serpents members and their story but don’t like Archie’s, I mean his world but jug looks cooler and stronger character than him.
I gotta say, i really didn’t like the first season. But the second season is really starting to grow on me. After watching this recent episode, i feel like were watching the making of Dark Betty.
I stopped watching after the first season but I strongly doubt The CW will cancel the show.
Big part of viewers were there to see an interesting love triangle between Archie Betty and Veronica just like in comics, but they make an accent on Black Hood only, also the only thing i see in 8 of 10 posts of official page and writers is some romantic text with hashtag #Varchie or #Bughead, it’s boring already, srsly! Like its evident who’ll be end game, so why should I want to watch the show then? If they’re going to go on like that they’ll lose another one million viewers like they already did
Also a lot of people have probably switched over to the CW app, which makes more money for the CW anyway. I think that it is that way for most the CW shows, hence the low ratings for the broadcasts. Broadcast is sort of dying in general.
The first episode of season 1 was amazing but then it got worse and worse and season 2 became so overly dramatic that I decided that it was time to stop watching it but ill watch the episode where sabrina is introduced though…just my opinion
This show is getting worse every episode.
Seriously Archie you wait with baseball bat all night the guy who shot your dead with real gun?
Come on who is writting this joke it’s pathetic.
And we will “end” you? Couldn’t have just said kill you???
I know right? I can barely finish an episode at this point!
Ratings going down week to week. People must are waiting to watch it on Netflix. They moved it from Thursday to boost the ratings and it did. But, it’s not doing much better than Arrow on Thursdays, a heavy TVnight. It’s an OK show. I DVR and watch it within the next day or two. It’s a little too dark.
Good for the ratings. I hope it goes higher or at least stabilises, just to piss off the SJWs that accused it of being homophobic (for not letting Betty and Veronica be a couple), sexist (for having any focus on male characters), racist, or whatever else they can think.
This is evidence of the Netflix effect. Per its One Billion dollar deal The CW, Season one was available on Netflix one week after the finale aired.
I used to read the comics that was based on Andy Hardy in the 40’s . This is a dark, convoluted, barely recognizable version of the comic book . I guess CW is making sure everyone sees how diverse they are and they have the obligatory gay and lesbian characters ( yawn…)(Moose is gay?) . the girl that plays Veronica is mis cast and they have a girl that is more like Veronica in the comic as the bad girl ( Cheryl Blossom ) . Seems like they’re trying for a TWIN PEAKS with a little bit of Scoobydo .… Read more »
You’re a bit late to the party. This kind of comment are the ones I’ve seen back in S1 premiere of the show.
Must be working though, Riverdale’s rating doubled that of last season.
The ratings are sliding though. Week to week and the ratings probably also increased because they changed it from Thursday night. It’s barely doing better than Arrow on Thursday night at prime time.
