Episode 01-01 & 02: Monday, 9/26/11
The two hour premiere attracted a 3.1 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 9.22 million. It was in third place for the timeslots and surely a disappointment for FOX considering the production expenses and promotion.
On the positive side, the two hours showed very good retention which means that most people who tuned in kept watching until the end. That’s a positive indicator for next week.
When you compare this with last season’s 8pm premiere of House, the network was down by 24% in the demo. On the positive side, Terra Nova improved over last year’s quickly-cancelled Lone Star premiere by 238%.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Terra Nova TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?

i lov terra nova please keep it!!! you always cancell what i like quit it.
Please. Renew. This is a very complex plot, so far being handled very well. One truism of new sci-fi shows is that is takes a little while for the plots to “jell,” and sometimes it takes even longer for the fan base to become established and settle into defensive mode. There are a lot of us out here to put other things aside every week to make sure we are at home for Terra Nova. We WANT the show back. We WANT to know how the sub-plots develop and the characters grow as people. Guess what people? That means WE… Read more »
Please, please do not cancel this show. I love it. I was faithfully glued to the TV every time it was on..never missed an episode. Great family show. Great casting. Great everything. I love dinosaurs. Give this show a chance. I will be there.
I’m hooked! Please renew this captivating show!
I like the show, looking forward to the next season especially after the season cliff hanger ending. My vote is to give this show a chance.
LOVE this show. Best new show; one the whole family enjoys. Has great plots, believable characters with incredible acting, and lots of mystery with on going cliff hangers. Please don’t cancel. My family and I want to find out about what they found in the Badlands!
A very good show should be renewed.
great show. keeps me glued to the tv. i vote to bring it back for season 2!
Please keep this show! I think it was awesome from the beggining and the season finale was definitely the best season finale for any show that I have ever seen!! This is a great show and it shouldnt be canceled just because critics didnt ‘absolutely love it’. It doesn’t matter if critics like it. It matters if the viewers like it. Which they do.
Please do not cancel this show, my family really looks forward to watching it every week night.
Greatest show on TV. This is what viewers are looking for, keep going with this series.
please please keep this show. one of the best in a long time to come along. anyone who loved lost has to love this show. it is a cross between lost and jurassic park (which is great!!!). besides…im in love with taylor LOL.
I vote to keep Terra Nova, too!! So many interesting places you can take this show… you’ve already got me wondering!! (is the “bad lands” the modern day Bermuda Triangle, perhaps???) Give it a chance, please! That’s got to be my BIGGEST pet peeve about tv stations…I’m not sure they ever really give new shows a chance. At least one FULL season is needed to really make an informed decision, imho. 🙂
We love this show! Please don’t kick it to the curb. It’s got everything, you need to give it a chance…PLEASE!! If “Raising Hope” can continue, than for the love of everything good on TV, keep Terra Nova, it’s so interesting and has so many places it can go.
LET THEM HAVE A SECOND SEASON!!!!
The technical part of this show is extremely well done, the script is well written, the concept is a fresh look at time travel and the government/corporate/scientific/environmental angles. It is pro family. Give it another season to establish the follow-on plot. We suffered through seasons of Darma Initiave driven that was all a hallucination, so come on…
…drivel…
