If a show has been cancelled, the networks often resort to burning off the remaining episodes on Saturday nights. That’s what ABC did with The Assets? But, what happens if a show’s ratings are even too low for Saturday nights? Well, apparently you run it on Sunday afternoons.
The Futon Critic reports that ABC has decided to air the remaining four episodes of their cancelled series The Assets on Sunday afternoons — but you’ll have to wait awhile to see them.
Episodes five (“Check Mate”) and six (“Small Useless Truth”) will run on July 27th at 4pm and 5pm. Episodes seven (“The Straw Poll”) and eight (“Avenger”) will then air on August 3rd at 4pm and 5pm.
Hopefully, the network won’t change their plans before these actually air.
What do you think? Do you think the episodes will finally air or will ABC pull them again?
ONCE AGAIN, ABC pulls the plug on a quality show. Will they run the final episodes on Sunday afternoons in three or four weeks??. I’m not holding my breathe. It sure it will give way to something like “Nude Bowling” . Oops, I’m afraid I just gave the Fat Cats at ABC an idea.
I know everyone here wants to see the Assets, but ABC doesn’t deserve us as viewers. We should all boycott ABC and never watch a show on that network again. If a million viewers doesn’t matter to them, lets see how they feel about losing us all together. I am vowing to never watch ABC TV again, at least until it airs on Hulu or Netflix. Believe me when I tell you this will keep happening, and it will never stop with them. Lets take back the control from them and show them we can wait. If they want us… Read more »
The Assets is the best show I have seen on commercial TV in a long long time. It fact it is the only show I have been interested in in a long long time. They replace it with reruns of a reality show and a soap opera. I must be really out of tune with the mass audience.
I agree – ABC has cancelled numerous shows midstream for the last few years. We don’t like getting involved in the shows just to have ABC cancel them. ABC seems to be the only station that does this consistently. Anytime there is a new show on this station we are hesitant to even start watching for “fear” of eminent cancellation after first 2 or 3 broadcasts.
I am absolutely disgusted with ABC. You people over there are a bunch of idiots!! This is why nobody gives your new shows a chance. You people build a viewer base on a certain show, and then pull it out from under us, and with the case of The Assets, you have now done it twice!! Why don’t you just put all the episodes online right now. No of course you won’t, instead you will continue to be stupid idiots, and air 2 episodes every couple months. How the hell are we supposed to get into any groove with the… Read more »
Unbelievable!! Thanks, ABC, for contributing to the dumbing down of America. Bet on Your Baby followed by Mistresses instead of a smart show like The Assets. Somehow, this show getting pulled twice sounds more like a conspiracy of the US gov’t not wanting us to know how the CIA works. I can’t believe that this show is the only casual on a slow Saturday night and all the other crap stays on.
Of course it’s the dumbing down of America. Just check out the other mindless shows being shown. It appears being over the age of 30, means we have to put up with half wit
shows. The trashier and more foolish the better. Pandering to the lowest common
denominator is the way to go.
Nooooo!!! ‘The Assets’ has been pulled and postponed AGAIN?! Really ABC network? Really?! I mean, sure it’s not the best of shows…but it is by no means the worst! The fact it’s based on a real story is interesting! The over the top performances and outrageous accents are entertaining! I hope they really DO air the final four episodes at the end of the month! Paul Rhys is the best Welsh character actor in the world! Stop underrating him, American television and film! Considering the collection of nasty letters about this, I wonder why this show keeps failing to gain… Read more »
Does anyone from ABC read these comments? They are probably representative of everyone who has been watching the series. Incidentally, Sandy Grimes is a real person who works (worked?) at the CIA and was one of the people who brought down Ames. The series is based on her book with Jeanne Vertefeuille (who is also portrayed in the series), Circle of Treason, published by the Naval Institute Press. Sandy Grimes wrote the brief summary of the series that’s posted on imdb. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3074646/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
This is part of the reason the big 3 are having such a difficult time. Quality shows like this aren’t given the promotion they need and then they’re shocked when no one shows up to watch. But we get all we can stand of” Two Broke a Girls”. I’m so happy to see FX, AMC, Showtime and others eating their lunch. It’s the first thing besides sports that I’ve watched on ABC in years. This show deserved so much better.
Thank you for solving the mystery! I wondered where this great show went, and I can’t believe they are canceling it. I am looking forward to the other episodes. One of the best shows ever!
This is an excellent show. I can’t believe ABC didn’t advertise it well and decided to just drop it in January after airing 2 shows. Then, out of the blue, episode 3 and 4 shows up in June, with no advertisement. I stumbled on it by chance. Now it’s Saturday, July 5th, and I sit down to watch it at 9:00PM (as was listed in the TV listing) to find it is not on and instead there is the trashy Mistresses. I then go to the internet to find out the remaining episodes will air on 2 consecutive Sundays, starting… Read more »
Please ABC, do not change your mind again and cancel this show permanently. I look forward to seeing the remaining episodes of a quality fact based series.
I cannot believe ABC is doing this. The Assets is an excellent series. They failed to promote it and cancelled it prematurely. Now they cannot even run the remaining episodes without ******** that up. Why didn’t they give it HBO or a cable network to show? I suspect that there is something else going on here.
Why not give this great show a chance. One or two episodes here and there can’t secure a following. So disappointed in the wimps at ABC. And so looked forward to something good on Saturday night.
So sad! All the great shows get axed because the people watching network tv don’t have interest in anything historical or real. Hopefully ABC will wake up and realize there’s a huge market for tv that actually means something!
I can’t believe this is happening again. Who wants to watch Mistresses. That show should be cancelled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You take off the shows that are interesting and put on this mess.
One of the best mini-series on TV in a long while. I hope they will at the very least put the remaining episodes on their streaming website where I found the first two episodes. Was looking forward to episode 5 tonight but no such luck. TV really has become a vast wasteland of trivia and trash for the weak- minded masses. Present company here excluded of course.
