While The Conners TV show has not been cancelled or renewed for season two, ABC has shown it has some faith in the Roseanne spin-off (a show no one thought would exist, this time last year). The network has ordered an additional episode for the first season, bringing the total count to 11. The accidental sequel, which was only ordered after the network cancelled Roseanne in wake of Roseanne Barr’s ‘repugnant’ social media posts, has done quite well in the ratings thus far, but it has a limited episode count, because of the principal cast’s limited availability.
An ABC sitcom, The Conners stars John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, Michael Fishman, Emma Kenney, Ames McNamara, Jayden Rey, and Maya Lynne Robinson. Guest stars in season one include Estelle Parsons, James Pickens Jr., Natalie West, Johnny Galecki, and Juliette Lewis. The sitcom follows the working-class family of Roseanne and Dan Conner (Goodman) including their three children Becky (Goranson), Darlene (Gilbert), and D.J. (Fishman), as well as Roseanne’s sister, Jackie Harris (Metcalf). No matter what challenges the family meets in Lanford, Illinois (even without matriarch Roseanne), the Conners endure — thanks to their persistence, humor, and most of all, love.
The Conners: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of The Conners is averaging a 2.03 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.28 million viewers. It is currently the network’s top-rated scripted TV show, beating out the other ABC TV shows in that category, by a mile.
With ratings like that, the network is sure to want a second season, provided they can get the cast and crew on board and make everything else work out, behind the scenes.
Like its predecessor, Roseanne, The Conners was intended for a short run because of its cast members’ other commitments. Roseanne had been renewed for a 13-episode second season. The Conners was originally picked up for 10 episodes in the wake of Roseanne’s abrupt cancellation.

Roseanne was a show I grew up with and loved. After Roseanne was kicked off the show I was skeptical, but Dan and all the other characters really came to light and honestly I am not missing Roseanne as much as I thought I would. She was the glue of the family, but the others shine more now that she is not around. I forgot how much I missed Darlene’s anticis and sarcasm. I’m invested and want to know what happens with Becky’s child and how the story will unfold. Bring it back!

I love the Conners, it’s the only show that makes me laugh out loud every single episode. I do miss Roseanne but the show is still funny without her. RENEW THE CONNERS!
