Over the past several years, ABC has had a difficult time successfully filling the Tuesdays at 10:00 PM timeslot. Could an unorthodox true-crime series be the answer or, will The Genetic Detective be the network’s latest series to draw low ratings? Will it be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
The Genetic Detective follows investigative genetic genealogist CeCe Moore and her work with DNA technology company Parabon NanoLabs. In the series, Moore and her team revolutionize crime-solving by working with police departments and accessible crime scene DNA to help trace the path of a criminal suspect’s family tree, uncover their identity and bring them to justice. Since 2018, Moore has used her unique research skills to transform the face of crime-solving, helping to identify more than 100 violent criminal suspects.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

I love this show. CeCe is terrific. PLEASE do not cancel. 6 shows is not enough to build an audience and I’m sorry–I’m not in the desired demographic (I’m older) but we buy things too!!! I do agree the show can focus less on CeCe and more on the case and the genetic work she does. Often the family tree bldg. moves too fast to follow how she arrived at the perpetrator. So many cases the show could continue to explore. I so hope to be watching again in the next season.
Do not cancel this show. Genetic Detective. Finally a real show to look forward to. Was so disappointed when I went to watch it tonight and it was not on. ☹️☹️☹️
As a genealogy buff, I quite enjoyed this show, albeit it delving a tad too much into CeCe’s personal life and repeated that each episode – but then, a LOT of shows tend to do that.. “Filler”, I call it. Regardless, I looked forward to each episode and was very disappointed to turn on the tv this evening to not find it on anymore. Was really hoping they would do a segment on CeCe’s expertise in helping solve the Paul Fronczak who was kidnapped as a baby from the hospital case. Hopefully they will renew.
This show needs to continue! It’s cutting edge premise highlights the latest scientific breakthroughs in forensics in the past 100+ years, not to mention the brilliance of Cece Moore’s sleuthing skill. PLEASE, PLEASE don’t cancel this timely program.
Please keep on the air. It’s one of the best shows on TV!
I hope the show is renewed. Because this is a novel reality show, it got better and better with each episode. It can be greatly improved, with more detailed info into each case, which would include The producers incorporating CeCe’s added experience of her backing up her hunches with good old fashion research in libraries and other publications to eliminate multiple suspects. This has barely been explored, and she has the creds to prove it. Thanks for the one episode of Dr. Gates, introducing her. That spoke volumes to me. I hope this will get other people interested in genealogy to help solve crimes and in a safe environment with the use if a laptop, library files, court records, old newspapers, Internet such as using Facebook. The police dept has no other leads on these cases. The cases can be old or new. It seems that with a bit of diligence, the perpetrator can be pinpointed in a very short period of time. Please don’t cancel this show. Give it a chance next year and really ADVERTISE. It’s so interesting and the fact that this new Genealogy investigating solves crimes is groundbreaking.
I had a had a high school friend who was raped & murdered, They caught the guy 25 yrs later using DNA from 1982. This show can change how Police investigate these murders.
