The Kids Are Alright stars Michael Cudlitz, Mary McCormack, Sam Straley, Caleb Foote, Sawyer Barth, Christopher Paul Richards, Jack Gore, Andy Walken, and Santino Barnard. The 1970s-period comedy centers on the Clearys, an Irish-Catholic family living on the outskirts of Los Angeles. Since its the ’70s, Peggy (McCormack) and Mike (Cudlitz) are raising their kids with a lack of supervision which might stun today’s parents, and now their eldest son wants to quit the seminary to go “save the world.” The times they are a-changing, and the Cleary family is not immune to the turbulence around them.
Airing on Tuesday nights, the first season of The Kids Are Alright is averaging a 0.87 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.15 million viewers.
Out of the 21 scripted ABC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, The Kids Are Alright is in 11th place in the demo and 10th place in total viewership.

I freaking LOVE this show! So nostalgic and funny. I can’t believe ABC is cancelling it, but keeping absolute crap like The Bachelor. WTF???

An incredibly great show is dropped by ABC while there is constant demand from fans of the show everywhere screaming ‘Nooooo” Question: ABC, what does it take for you people to get it? The show is great, cast is great, writing is great. ABC buried this great 70’s comedy show behind a current day show “American Housewife” ABC, Disney, Iger you guys never gave “The Kid’s are Alright” the chance it deserves. Please bring this show back as a mid season replacement for one of the shows you should have originally canceled. Thanks #savethekidsarealright

I looked forward to this show every week. It was sweet, funny and clean humored. My adult kids and their families will miss it as well. Hoping it’s picked up by some other smarter network!
I hope Amazon or Netflix pick up this show. ABC is shooting themselves in the foot by canceling this show

I’m so disappointed this show is cancelled!!! It was a great nostalgic fix and so funny, great characters! All cop shows, reality shows (not), or 20 something sitcoms. And I guess there wasn’t any lgbt in it so that it could be like every other stupid show out there…. How About a little diversity ABC?!!
ONCE AGAIN ABC drops the ball and cancels a great show! There are very few sitcoms that are truly hilarious and laugh out loud funny. The Kids are Alright, along with Last Man Standing (can’t tell me politics wasn’t a factor for ABC canceling this fantastic show) was one of them. Good luck to all of the amazing actors in this show and hope to see you again soon!!
This is the best show on TV! It is extremely well written and unbelievably hilarious! The characters are unique and well layered, and the acting by each member of the cast is outstanding. The dialogue is superbly written, and the delivery of the lines is spot on! I have grown to love the entire family, and the members of the community in which they reside. PLEASE REINSTATE THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT. This was the best comedy any network has shown for at 25 years Except friends which was probably equally as good. I have watched each episode at least twice and i am going to be watching them again. What a great cast! PLEASE drop the pride and admit to this mistake. The Kids Are Alright in fall 2019.

I love this show! I thought I had found a genuinely funny show to replace The Big Bang Theory, I’m really disappointed that it won’t be renewed.

They always cancel the good shows and leave the stupid ones on…like all the fake reality shows. This show was awesome and so funny! C’mon abc…what is your problem?
I agree with Rick! What is up with all the fake “reality” stupid shows! The Kids Are Alright was an excellent show! Why cancel that???!!! No one ever gets a wrap up anymore either. No wonder everyone is watching so many of the cable series now. They are good too and if they get cancelled, at least you get closure.
