The Kids Are Alright stars Michael Cudlitz, Mary McCormack, Sam Straley, Caleb Foote, Sawyer Barth, Christopher Paul Richards, Jack Gore, Andy Walken, and Santino Barnard. The 1970s-period comedy centers on the Clearys, an Irish-Catholic family living on the outskirts of Los Angeles. Since its the ’70s, Peggy (McCormack) and Mike (Cudlitz) are raising their kids with a lack of supervision which might stun today’s parents, and now their eldest son wants to quit the seminary to go “save the world.” The times they are a-changing, and the Cleary family is not immune to the turbulence around them.
Airing on Tuesday nights, the first season of The Kids Are Alright is averaging a 0.87 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.15 million viewers.
Out of the 21 scripted ABC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, The Kids Are Alright is in 11th place in the demo and 10th place in total viewership.

I have never been so upset over a show being cancelled! This show and cast is so special. This is a show I literally could see on the air for years and years and also in syndication. What is ABC thinking? This show is one of a kind! Please someone pick up this great show. Whoever picks this show up I will follow it there!
I really enjoyed that show. As a child of the 70s I can relate to that show. I wish it didn’t canceled. Maybe another Network can pick it up for another season or more.

I would absolutely watch a second season- best new comedy on network TV , so disappointed that is not returning- get rid of the Connors instead, The kids R alright has much better writing!

Ridiculous, all these lousy shows get renewed and one of the best shows on TV in many years gets canned. Just makes no sense. I guess America can’t handle a show about a white family in the “politially incorrect” 70’s.
I love this show, it should stay on the air
This is a great show! Please reconsider your decision. There is so much that a person who grew up as a Catholic in the 70s can relate to. Even if you weren’t Catholic, most people knew the family that was and could share the same stories. If you don’t reconsider your decision to cancel, would you let Netflix pick up this show? This gem is worth a second look!

Nobody was forcing you to watch, some of us actually liked it.

I can’t believe such a quality show has been canceled. I am always telling people what great writers of the show has. I look forward to it every week please do not cancel the show!
