The Knick ended its second season on Cinemax on Friday night, and the finale ended with a shocker that could cause some major changes for season three. The finale featured what appeared to be the death of the series’ main character, Dr. John Thackery (Clive Owen).
Cinemax has not yet ordered a third season for The Knick yet, but the network is exploring the possibility of a third season. According to Variety, the network has ordered a script for the third season premiere and an outline for the entire season.
Cinemax said the following in a statement about the order:
“Cinemax has been in conversations with Steven Soderbergh on how we might continue with The Knick. When first conceived, the series was always meant to be presented in a two-year story arc, and Steven has been meeting with the writers to discuss how to proceed.”
Owen has made it clear that he only intended to do two seasons of the series. Right now, it’s looking likely he will not return if the series is brought back for a third season.
Do you want a third season of The Knick? Tell us what you think.
Hell Yes!
Yes, absolutely bring it back! So many great story lines going and it’s the most amazing show ever! Clive Owen is perfect as Thackery and the rest of the cast is superb as well. We have to see Mr. Barrow get his just desserts. Junia must take whatever wealth he has left through her power of attorney. Too many things left hanging and this is the best show on the air. Steven Soderbergh has the ability to make it happen. 🙂 Rick and Cherie
The Knick is my favorite show, and I am stunned and disappointed to hear it may not continue with another season. I truly anticipated many seasons to come. It felt like the show had so much yet to offer. I so hope the show returns. It was a masterpiece.
I really enjoyed the show. But the apparent departure of so many interesting characters will make a third season similar to a premier. Don’t think you can do it
I want a third season but not without Clive Owen. He is the center of this show.
