ABC hasn’t had much luck launching a new reality show in quite some time so they tried something different this time — The Quest. Is it a ratings success? Will it be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled instead?
On The Quest, a dozen everyday people are transported to a fantasy world called Everealm where they have adventures and compete to be the last “true hero” remaining. The cast includes Peter Windhofer, Jan Hutter, Marcello de Nardo, Susanne Gschwendtner, Stephanie Buddenbrock, Florence Kasumba, Mai Duong Kieu, and Doug Tait.
The show debuted at the end of July to a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.82 million viewers. It was a very poor start — even for a summer series — and the numbers have gotten worse as the weeks have gone by.

The season currently averages a paltry 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.96 million viewers. That’s worse than Sing Your Face Off, a celebrity reality show that was burned off on Saturday nights in June.
To be fair, The Quest has had to compete with football games in some markets and has also been preempted by games on some local ABC stations. The ratings are still very, very low however and the network knew that the series would be interrupted when they scheduled it — a sign that they probably had no faith in it.
In the end, it’s highly unlikely that ABC will want to take a chance on ordering a second season of The Quest.

I’m just gonna say this.nI DONT WATCH REALITY TV– I I never miss this!!! This show is fresh and wonderful! I want to see more! Bring it back ABC
This is the first time a reality show has truly thought “outside the box” since the Colony. This show should go on! There are plenty of other adventures to be had, and there are plenty of fellow nerds to continue the Quest! If ABC was smart, they’d back the show and keep it going.
Renew it. It’s fresh, it’s different, and it’s simply more entertaining than the garbage reality shows that plague TV.
Not every show can be a huge hit, but lose this one and it will go the way of so many other actually good shows that were lost only to be replaced by something dull, rehashed, and just plain boring. With The Quest, you get to combine the competitive challenges with a narrative that, while cheesy, is simply fun. It’s entertainment in its most basic form.
ABC had done a grand tin’ in creatin’ a show that will truly become sometin’ that everyone WILL be watchin’! It has grown so fast in fan base, Tweet and Facrbook followers, and if tis allowed to flurish, ABC’s ratins’ will skyrocket in it’s wake! The Quest actors and writers wove the perfect story line, very engagin’ with never a dull moment from start to finish. Far exceeds anytin’ that any other network has attempted! Like whodunit I think this show will be cancelled but I am praying and hoping that it doesn’t!!!!!!!! It has such an unique premise and if it wasn’t competing against sports and such then I believe that there would have been more viewers. Give it a chance and this time run it during the spring season? Maybe that would help
It was a true honor to be a part of the wonderful cast of The Quest. Not only is this series Unique in it’s design, it’s the Future of Television. Reality moments with scripted elements and a storyline intertwined seamlessly with one Another. Season 2 would be a Gift to the world and a much needed change of pace. This show will only grow and gain more fans, and force people to search their own hearts and perhaps go on their own personal Quest to find the Hero within them! SEASON 2
I agree completely. I could see how each of the paladins grew in their spiritual, physical and emotional aspects while participating in this unique, entertaining and fun show. The show isn’t about people backstabbing each other to get “the win”, but learning to work together and, in the end, understanding themselves better. I hope ABC listens to the viewers and keeps The Quest for another season.

They should absolutely KEEP The Quest! I hope they renew it for many more seasons. Its the only reality show I’ve ever seen where where the contestants try to keep the strongest players in the game instead of voting them out. Its a wonderful reversal of the norm.
How does a .7 rating compare when a show has absolutely minimal marketing campaign? Considering this and the social campaign, it makes you wonder how would this show fair with a proper marketing campaign?

Oh no-they MUST NOT cancel The Quest! Please ABC-give us fans a break. I’m picky about what I watch, but ever since my 20’s+ daughter first told me about this show, my husband & have become hooked! It’s so impressive, people just have to see a little of the beginning to want to watch the whole thing. I love that it’s not the usual low-denominator reality show. It’s about bravery & integrity–who has it-who doesn’t ? Love the sets, the cast, & everything about it.
I don’t feel it had much chance to catch on, but richly deserves another try.
I never chime in on these things, but I have to this time. The Quest is so unique and so well done. It leaves me with a feeling of joy, unlike other reality shows. The contestants are simply thrilled to be there, without money driving them. I think with a more nuanced story next time, and more cast immersion, this series could be a real winner.
I really wish they would keep it. I usually abhor reality shows, but this I have religiously watched since the first episode and can’t wait for the next. I’m honestly shocked at the low ratings. It’s reminiscent of a scripted “Survivor” and we all know how long that series lasted. Too bad they aired it in a way that it had to compete with sports. Please keep this show! It’s different from all other reality TV shows and with shows like Game of Thrones, I’m sure there would be interest. It’s the end of summer and football is starting. It’s a shame that they chose this time of year to show it 🙁
Love this show, and it’s enjoyable that there is a story to follow instead of 12 people stabbing each other in the back for some grand cash prize like every single reality show out there.
Keep it! Renew it! Just because ABC didn’t have faith in it and put it up against greater enemies (football), it managed to use its strengths (DVR’s, OnDemand, etc. )to overcome its weaknesses, just like the paladins!
It’s a reality show, which is ‘eh’ at best. Cancel and save us from more of this drool.
Who is ‘us’? Most of the comments I’ve read have been positive, and it’s not like you’re being forced to watch this or any reality shows for that matter.
And anyway, quite a few people who say they don’t normally like reality shows (like myself) have said that they enjoyed this one.
Keep it!! This is the first reality show I have ever enjoyed and watched loyally. There are few family friendly shows, especially reality shows on, and this is one the entire family can enjoy!
