Nathan Fillion has been known to say that all of his TV series get cancelled, but the last one to meet that fate, Castle, ran for eight seasons on ABC before its awkward cancellation. Now Firefly‘s Cap’n Tightpants is back in a whole new uniform, in The Rookie TV show. Can the first season pass the muster that is the Nielsen ratings? An ABC comedy-drama, The Rookie stars Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Titus Makin, Mercedes Mason, Melissa O’Neil, Afton Williamson, and Eric Winter. The story centers on John Nolan (Fillion), a small-town guy who, after a life-changing experience, decides to pursue his dream of being an LAPD officer. Now he’s the oldest rookie on the force, and the brass thinks he’s just having a midlife crisis. He’s got to keep up with his younger co-workers (not to mention young criminals) or he’ll risk lives. Maybe though, he can use the experience he’s gained with age, and the determination he has developed over the years, to make a real go of it. Either way, he’s got a secret weapon — his sense of humor.

This is such a great show! The characters are so easy to connect to and so genuine, the stories are relevant and relatable, it’s a different “model” and both entertaining and worthwhile! Please renew this good show!
Please keep the rookie.It would get better ratings if it were on earlier.,great family program. 9pm would be a much better time slot. Love this show
Our whole family loves The Rookie! We have watched it from the beginning and enjoy all the characters including their back stories. We truly look forward to The Rookie continuing into its second season so please don’t cancel it!

I don’t usually watch network television series, but I got hooked on “The Rookie” from the very first episode. If the ratings are low it’s probbly just because it’s up against stiff competition in that time slot – NCIS. I really love it and would be very sorry to see a series that is finally worth watching go because of bad placement. It’s got excellent ensemble cast, great direction, wonderful Los Angeles milieu and great stories, totally worth watching. I don’t know how ratings are compiled but my video recorder is hopefully in the mix.
I love this show. I watch it with my son and daughter in law and we look forward to each new episode. Please don’t cancel it…its one of the few good shows on TV.
Love this show. Please don’t cancel! Characters are multi dimensional and there are interesting back stories. Interesting to see the old roomie defy expectations. Seems life experience pays off.

Whats wrong with us baby boomers being in the range of viewers for these tv shows ? There is a hell of a lot of us who watch tv instead of our phones. I love the ROOKIE !!! Its a fun show, entertaining.
Good point! And we also spend money on products so what’s the hang up? They really need to expand that end number… things have changed!
Give this show a real chance. It’s good, especially in a time when it’s popular to dis police or make them appear evil or buffoons. This show makes them human.
Please continue making this show! I love it! All of the actors are excellent.
