A key cast member is leaving The Rookie. TVLine reports Afton Williamson will not return for season two of the ABC TV show.
Williamson plays Talia Bishop on the comedy drama, which centers on John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), a small-town guy who pursues his dream of being an LAPD officer after a life-changing experience. The cast also includes Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Titus Makin, Mercedes Mason, and Melissa O’Neil.
It’s unclear why Williamson is parting ways with The Rookie, but Harold Perrineau is expected to fill the void left by the actress. Season two is slated to premiere on ABC on September 29th at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Don’t really care whether she returns or not. It’s a wonderful show that doesn’t take itself seriously and mostly, it has Nathan Fillion! If HE left, I’d be devastated. They’ll find someone awesome to fill her spot. It’s her loss. That we get a season two? Is OUR win!

Afton Williamson was one of the main characters that made the show so successful. Her replacement (Harold Perrineau) is a good actor, but a bad replacement. I will watch the new season and see if I still like it. If not still many shows to watch.

ABC has some explaining to do!
According to online reports the actress’s repeatedly reported racial harassment by the Hair Department, as well as an actor resulting in a sexual assault. She reports Production promised her they would take care of it but they chose to ignore her complaints .
This accusation needs investigation AND ACTION.
Love the show. Another great series with thr right mix of action and humour. Looking forward to series 2.
My wife and I love this show. I guess we will have to wait to see when Season 2 will be shown here in the UK. Sad that Afton won’t be in the new season, she was a great character.
