Paramount Network (formerly Spike TV) hasn’t had the smoothest start. It ultimately cancelled the Heathers TV series adaptation prior to airing, because of the school violence storyline. Fans ignored the second season of Nobodies when it moved over, so it went back to TV Land. Now, in addition to American Woman, they’ve introduced the Yellowstone TV show? Can this modern-day western lasso enough viewers for the re-branded cable network to make its mark on the Nielsen ratings? Will Yellowstone be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. Status update below.
A Paramount Network family drama, from creators John Linson and Taylor Sheridan, Yellowstone stars Kevin Costner, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Gil Birmingham, Kelsey Asbille, Dave Annable, Brecken Merrill, Ian Bohen, Jefferson White Danny Huston, Josh Lucas, Gretchen Mol, Jill Hennessey, Patrick St. Esprit, Heather Hemmons, Denim Richards, and Michael Nouri. The story centers on the Duttons, a family of powerful and prosperous cattle ranchers. It chronicles their shifting alliances, as well as their old grudges, and even unsolved murders.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

Cable ratings are typically released within a day or so of the show’s airing, except for in the case of weekends and holidays. They are sometimes harder to come by so there may be occasional delays or gaps.
What do you think? Do you like the Yellowstone TV series? Should Paramount Network cancel or renew this TV show for season two?
7/24/18 update: Yellowstone has been renewed for a second season by Paramount Network. Details here.
I have really enjoyed this series. It is raw and complex. It’s very well written, produced, directed, and acted. The cinamaphotography is excellent. The characters are deep and complicated. Kevin Costner IS John Dutton. I think the nudity is unnecessary. Why?! It cheapens the whole experience. Otherwise, it’s pretty perfect. Can’t wait for season two.
I HATE it. As a person of native american heritage and a fourth generation from settlers coming in a covered wagon before Montana was a state, I despise how this series potrays my home. I watched part of the first episode and it made me sick.
The season finale did not need to include the up close dancer nudity in the strip club to introduce a new character. This is a fantastic series with good writing, interesting character’s and fluid plot lines BUT stop bringing the quality down by including trashy excerpts of T and A. It’s not needed when your actors are fully capable of delivering the scene.
Best series on TV. I love, love, love Yellowstone. I hope it stays on for years to come.
Storyline finally solidifying, character development going well, acting is solid. Some of the ranching representation is “Hollywood”…drop that and become a bit more realistic. Not talking wealth, but the technical representation of ranch work. Don’t tick off the viewers who’ve invested time and effort into watching Yellowstone by canceling it. The show deserves another season.
People don’t think about that got renewed for next summer but keep same amount even more very good hooking,
I can’t wait for S2! Keep it coming. Best thing on TV since Longmire.
The show is a hit, keep it coming for a second season.
It is a realistically modern day western. As a rancher, I should know. IF you don’t Ike some of the violence, stay out of Montana.
Will do. If that is the kind of people who liver there, I definitely would not visit Montana. Surely this trashy series diesn’t represent most of the citizenry. The series is Dallas but on life support and ten times worse portrayal of ranchers in general, but then again money talks and …… walks.
Will stay out of Montana if that is the case. I don’t buy the idea that all ranchers are violent in Montana or elsewhere. This series depiction if them is despicabble. It belongs in the tras bin of cinematography IMHO.
The show is a hit, I don’t know why there’s even a debate about it. I hope they don’t even think of canceling it, anyway the show is definitely something I look forward to every Wednesday and Kevin Costner is great as usual and the Supporting Cast is excellent
absolutely love this show. wonderful character development so many layers to each dutton .i live in colorado so thoroughly enjoy the beautiful scenery as well. kevin and taylor have created a wonderful show
I simply love the show! Kevin Costner is always magnificent, and is the reason I wanted to watch the series. Add to that a cast that is equally fantastic, a storyline that is well written, and the panoramic scenery, and for me it’s a hit. I only wish the show were 2 hours long, instead of one. Love it. I give it 9 out of 10 stars.
To all those bitchin’ about the language and nudity…a little research prior to viewing would let you know that it contains that, so it’s literally your fault for not doing research…don’t like it, don’t watch, but to wish something canceled just because it goes against your sheltered lifestyle isn’t fair to those involved or the fans.
I like the show. Westerns should be on TV and in the movies. I grew up watching westerns and enjoy the scenery out west. These type shows have been missing for far too long. Too many goofball comedies and horror shows. Why should the younger generation have so much entertainment while older people get little or nothing developed and continued for them?
They REALLY need to get rid of the daughter. She doesn’t add one thing to the show and takes a ton away. She just doesn’t fit either with attitude or that accent that would leave a true Westerner rolling with laughter.
Too bad. Usually enjoy Costner.
This show is great. Gotta renew.
