Max and Caroline are now out of time, as well as money. Today, CBS cancelled the 2 Broke Girls sitcom, after six seasons on the air.
The comedy follows the unlikely duo of streetwise Max Black (Kat Dennings) and formerly-wealthy Caroline Channing (Beth Behrs), who work in a greasyspoon diner that they now partially own. The cast also includes Garrett Morris, Jonathan Kite, Matthew Moy, and Jennifer Coolidge.
The show has been a solid performer for CBS since it began, and season six was no different. Although the ratings had dipped some, the sitcom was still bringing in decent numbers, with the most recent season earning an average of 1.31 in the 18-49 demo and 5.621 million viewers.
A renewal — perhaps for a shorter season — seemed likely for 2 Broke Girls, but CBS was locked in negotiations with the show’s producing studio, Warner Bros. TV, for some time. The studio owns the series outright and profits from it heavily, while CBS receives no backend. Although negotiations went down to the wire, Deadline has confirmed there will be no seventh season.
Recently, we asked viewers if they’d watch another season of 2 Broke Girls and while a majority of 65% said they would, 29% said “No, it’s time for the show to end.”
What do you think? Do you watch 2 Broke Girls? Would you have watched a seventh season on CBS?
2 Broke Girls is one of my favorite shows. CBS keeps garbage like Superior Donuts, Man with a Plan, and Kevin Can Wait, not to mention the absolutely HORRID reality (aka “unreality”) shows. This sucks! Please change your mind — OR some other network should pick it up!
Great show and will be missed!!
I thought the show was HORRIBLE and should have been canceled after the first season. It is nothing but a series of sexual innuendos delivered by talentless actors with no timing.
I just wanted to add CBS completely sucks now.
What the hell the at least needed to have a 7th season so they could give it a proper end. I’m sad because I really love that show
I would absolutely watch season seven. I LOVE 2 Broke GIrls. CBS is insane. Total snoozefest without 2BG. The wardrobe. The aspirations. Sophie and Han! Atleast move them into another apartment or into Manhattan or something. Wouldn’t it be hilarious if Caroline became a single mom. It’s conceivable that she could get back with Candy Andy. Mmm… Jpeg should break Max’s heart again by her finding out that he hass a drug problem. Then she can give him money out of pity… Sophie and Olegs kids have to grow up and antagonize Hahn. And Earl has to leave the diner.… Read more »
I really like the show and will definitely miss it. There’s more of the store line that needs to be told for Max and Caroline.
I think it will be moved to another network. It’s the largest money-maker of all time in syndication. Warner Brothers needs this show. If CBS doesn’t want it, I’m sure they can find a network that does!
This is great news… this show started out really cute then got so trashy. Adios, I won’t miss you.
yes.. definitely… if they are going to cancel it, then they need to do at least a short season in order to bring things to a close.. not just leave it hanging with them owing more on their dessert bar and max saying yes to the marriage proposal.. and caroline needed to get back with andy.. then neither one of them would be broke.. bringing it to a conclusion..
I like the show and would have continued to watch, but like every other show and network, nothing lasts anymore, and I’m sorry I even get hooked on these shows, it might be time to get Netflix…
I love this show, it still has so much to work with. Please put this back on the air
This show never lost its spark. Please reconsider and save this show or move it to another network.
How do you cancel as show when the majority wants a season seven. This is exactly whats wrong with the world today. No Brains or common sense. Yeah lets cancel a show that the majority of the fans want to see . Makes complete sense…
Seriously, Kevin Can Wait & Man with a Plan get renewed & this is cancelled. It is so bad for us viewers that money is the only thing that rules at the networks. This may be more raunchy but it certainly had more brains than many of the other sit coms & more people were watching.
