While doomsday meteors, mass vanishings, demonic possessions, and serpent gods couldn’t stop the Copeland family, no one is immune to the network TV Powers That Be. The Aftermath TV show on Syfy has been cancelled after its first and only season.
Star James Tupper broke the news that there would be no Aftermath season two, on Twitter. Halfire Entertainment produced the post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama in association with Syfy and Canada’s Space channel. Anne Heche, Julia Sarah Stone, Taylor Hickson, and Levi Meaden also starred.

Aftermath Season One Ratings | Syfy
In the US, Aftermath premiered on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 with a 0.16 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic and 634,000 viewers. While the series never really built on that audience, it did manage to maintain it.
Overall, the first season of Aftermath averaged a 0.16 in the demo and drew an average total audience of 594,000 viewers.
Those numbers currently put Aftermath right in the middle of Syfy’s slate. Out of the 15 Syfy TV shows we have been tracking in to 2016-17 television season, Aftermath ranks seventh, when we sort by either demo ratings or average total audience size.
Although it is a bit of a surprise to see a cable channel cancel a middle-of-the-pack TV series, remember, Aftermath is a Syfy-Space co-production. In other words, the decision was not only Syfy’s to make.
That said, in the recent past, Syfy has cancelled shows that earned better ratings in both measures. When the cable channel cancelled Defiance after three seasons, it was averaging a 0.25 and 1.125 million, respectively. Similarly, Dominion, which was cancelled after two seasons on Syfy, averaged a 0.25 in the demo and 869,000 total viewers.
Finally, what do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Aftermath TV show? Do you think Syfy and Space should have cancelled or renewed it for a second season? Let us know, below.
I really enjoyed aftermath as did a few of my friends I was so peed off that there was no second season
This is why any time I see syfy attached to it I skip it they lost me when they shut down eureka.
This series is super cool and awesome. You just can never expect what’s next! and that’s why you keep asking yourself what’s next? It is really interesting and I think Syfy should make it again. In my opinion, it was a terrible mistake. Aftermath should be renewed for a complete season 2!
Well. I have just found this aftermath show. I’ve not seen ads for it or trailers. It’s not circled my fb newsfeed. My partner accidentally found it, googling shows that I like. So far it’s …….. unpredictable which I like. A family of clever people, I mean the daughters are into things that help. The brother is fearless. Their Dad shows that he has tricks up his sleeve, and the mum is a bada**. It’s not typical zombies. It’s random supernatural. Rome wasn’t built in a day. I’m in the UK people are only now talking about ‘Stranger Things’. It… Read more »
aftermath was totally entertaining. had some odd ideas but better then the same ole same ole!
I truly loved the show aftermath. It really upset me or let me down when I found out there wouldnt be another season. I hope someone will take over the show and make another season. I love syfy and end of the world shows and movies. But I do wish this show to return they could just Gast forward a year and say the have been fight creatures and looking for the mother it wouldn’t been hard to do. But thank u for listening to me.
I loved aftermath so mad that it’s gone
No way can it end there!!!! I just stumbled across this 3 days ago and watched all 13 episodes to see that Karen sucked up into a worm hole and what….! NOTHING!!!! That’s the pits! Yeah it was a bit cringeworthy in places and there were quite a few filing errors but the story was gripping and got me n almost 600,000 other people gripped!!! Very disappointing
I thought the show was awesome! Me and my husband looked forward to watching a new episode each week. So bummed that it isnt coming back for a second season:(
I really enjoyed watching the show I wish there was more to watch can you put it on Netflix or hulu so that more people can enjoyed it to thank you
I’m so gutted that this has been cancelled. I don’t understand it. What was the point in cancelling it when it had such good rating. You are only just starting to get into things in the 1st season so now there are all these questions that have not been answered which is rather annoying. It would of been better to do a 2nd season, get more into the story and answer questions and then cancel it if needs be. Yet again another tv series not given a proper chance and just cancelled. Really gutted with this decision
This tv series I thought was as good or better as the Walking Dead tv series… It is a shame that the SYFY Channel has a bad habit of not giving some programs a chance. You get hooked after one season and then they pull the plug. It is down right evil.
the show must to return
Not fair Sci-Fi as always cancels good series. Good enough reason not to watch channel and get invested in a show…… bad move!
Aftermath should never had been shown if it is never going to complete! Very, very annoying to leave it thus.
