NBC had big hopes for their all-drama Thursday night schedule. Unfortunately, the ratings have been dismal and now the network has cancelled their new drama, Allegiance, after five episodes.
On the Allegiance TV show, Katya and Mark O’Connor (Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) and their daughter Natalie (Margarita Levieva) are part of a dormant Russian sleeper cell that has just been reactivated. Their mission is to turn their son Alex (Gavin Stenhouse), an idealistic CIA analyst, into a spy. Others in the cast are Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi, and Alex Peters.
The series debuted on February 5th to a dismal 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million viewers. Then the numbers got even worse after that, hitting lows with a 0.7 in the demo and 3.32 million viewers.
NBC’s eight-episode mini-series The Slap has also been doing very poorly and recently relocated The Blacklist has been taking a beating opposite Scandal on ABC and with no lead-in support.
The network has now decided to pull the plug on Allegiance. They’re moving The Slap to 10pm for the remainder of its short run and will fill the 8pm timeslot with special editions of Dateline NBC.
It’s unclear how many episodes of Allegiance will be left unaired or when/if they will see the light of day. Whatever happens, it looks unlikely that the show’s relatively small audience will get any kind of closure.
What do you think? Did you like Allegiance on NBC? Do you think that the network should have cancelled this series? Should they air the remaining episodes?
Just watched 5 episodes of Allegiance on “on demand” & got hooked, only to find out the series has been cancelled. At least put it on your website to watch via computer. Shame on you NBC.
I loved the show. I can not believe it got cancelled. Was it because there was no gay people on it yet? This show was so good, Me and my wife loved it. Every character was interesting and believable. I am so disappointed. Good bye NBC you should be slapped really do not watch anything on No Body Cares network. Never even heard of that show.
It’s a good show, you shouldn’t cancel it, people DVR shows now a days, so it doesn’t matter what day or time it’s on. But I never even heard of this show. So you have to do better than that to give it a chance. I found it on demand, now I hear it’s canceled. Doesn’t make sense to put it up against ABC Thursday night. Give it a chance
Shame on NBC, Best new show and looked forward to every week .
Bad call NBC!!!!
Much better show & depth to the stroryline & characters than the Blacklist
They didn’t even give it time to see where it would go with 5 episodes! WTH they keep canceling all the good shows! Covert Affairs so they give us Allegiance and turn around and cancel! Also, they really should take in count everyone DVR’s everything these days!
My husband and I are also very disappointed in the cancellation of Allegiance by NBC! After the last episode aired, we couldn’t wait for the next episode! The characters are really interesting and the writing is excellent. I, like others, especially like Alex’s quirky character. I agree with above comments about how our society watches television on our own time. We DVR almost everything we watch. Please reconsider canceling such a great show, NBC! There needs to be a new way to see what the following is on a show these days. After so few episodes have aired, there is… Read more »
Personally, I’d like to get all the NBC decision-making network knuckleheads in one room, lock the door, and start b**ch-slapping everybody till my arm fell off! What are you guys thinking? First you take one of your big hits, The Blacklist, and put it up against ABC’s best lineup. Then, you cancel one of your better shows, Alliegence, which didn’t stand a chance against that same lineup without giving it a chance to develop a solid following and story line. And, lastly, you move an even lower rated show, The Slap, to try and take up the slack. Someone needs… Read more »
You can’t be anymore wrong & unwise in canceling allegiance..it is a superb show
Very unprofessional and rude on NBC part. Allegiance was one of the very good shows on TV!
Ugh why would you put this up against HTGAWM and then be surprised when it doesn’t take their viewers? The show has to have proven bona fides before it can take viewers. I didn’t see this mentioned, but I watch on Hulu. Does that count? Twits.
Typical…NBC…the Nothing But Crap network finally gets its hands on a quality show with good writing and a terriffic cast and then schedules it against two powerhouse like How to Get Away With Murder and Elementary and then when it sfails to pull in blockbuster ratings abruptly cancels it….meanwhile maintaining The Slap which is what they did to their viewers…really messed up once again….I hope they will at least air the remaining episodes…but I tend to doubt it…stupid ******** that they are…
Love the show, I can’t believe they are cancelling it…. The same for state of affairs…
Too bad, NBC has no clue when it comes to good shows..
I’m about ready to cancel NBC from my viewing list. Their irresponsible cutting of programs that are well liked an people have committed their time to, is annoying, frustrating and disgusting. Allegiance is a great show…..Why not cancel Matt Lauer (the Anne Curry antagonist), and some of the really DUMB shows NBC has out….. I hope this one gets picked up by some other network where they don’t let people waste weeks and then, blithely cut the show. I am sick of it…..We should all BOYCOTT this lousy network and their money grubbing tactics…..They forget that it isn’t just the… Read more »
