The Away mission has been grounded. Netflix has cancelled the astronaut drama series so, there won’t be a second season. The show stars Hilary Swank, Josh Charles, Talitha Bateman, Vivan Wu, Mark Ivanir, Ato Essandoh, and Ray Panthaki.
Created by Andrew Hinderaker, Away is set in the near future and revolves around a manned spacecraft being sent to Mars. For the high-stakes mission, a crew of elite astronauts is assembled from around the globe, coming from the United States, Russia, China, India, and Great Britain. If the mission goes as planned, they’ll be away from their home and loved ones for three years. During this time, their relationships both on Earth and in space will be tested, as they struggle to stay alive and stay on track in pursuit of humanity’s most important goal.
The first season of 10 episodes was released on September 4th. The series was reportedly one of Netflix’s most-watched series for much of September. Apparently, that viewership wasn’t good enough, when weighed against production costs, for the streamer to issue a renewal.

WHAT AN ABSOLUTE SHAME. Netflix finally has a decent engrossing series made in the USA and it cancels it. It may be time for a chaqnge.

This really stinks. Something different but not offensive. Figures they wouldn’t want that.
Its not a reality show thats why they cancelled it… Too darn many of the reality shows ….. This was EXCELLENT
loved this show. figures….. the good ones get cancelled and they just keep making cheap reality tv or reusing old scripts from the 80s. this story needs to continue!

Seriously?? Best sci fi I’ve seen in YEARS ! Got me excited about space travel again. This was a beautiful show, touching, provocative, incredibly acted, quality!, and Netflix cancels it? This is what is wrong with television today.
Loved Away. Very disappointed Nerflix cancelled the show. It was one show that my husband and I enjoyed watching together.

I loved this series. Please bring it back ! I want to see Mars and I want to see them get home in the future!!
I am disappointed that “Away” won’t return, but I’m not surprised. It played like a single series, although I was curious about season 2.
What is WRONG with these people ? WHY do they keep knocking off the air really LIKED SHOWS when everyone watchs them ? f+_+_+ is wrong with them ? do they have NO REGARD for US the VIEWERS ? RESPECT OUR WISHS ! THATS TWICE NOW !

I loved the show AWAY and was anticipating the next season, especially landing on Mars. So many possible story lines. I hate when Netflix does this. Every time I get in to a show they cancel it. My one season of Messiah is another good example. Boo Netflix !
I LOVED the show and this is a garbage decision by NF. There’s so much trash out there on tv but THIS one gets cancelled? Whatever.
Maybe HULU can pick it up
