Did Sydney make the right choice in the first season of the Bluff City Law TV show on NBC? As we all know, the Nielsen ratings typically play a big role in determining whether a TV show like Bluff City Law is cancelled or renewed for season two. Unfortunately, most of us do not live in Nielsen households. Because many viewers feel frustration when their viewing habits and opinions aren’t considered, we’d like to offer you the chance to rate all of the season one episodes of Bluff City Law here. *Status update below.
An NBC legal drama, the Bluff City Law TV series stars Jimmy Smits, Caitlin McGee, Scott Shepherd, Barry Sloane, Michael Luwoye, MaameYaa Boafo, Stony Blyden, and Jayne Atkinson. Coming from a famous Memphis family that’s known for taking on injustice, a brilliant lawyer named Sydney Strait (McGee) used to work at her father Elijah’s celebrated law firm until their tumultuous relationship got in the way. After barely speaking to Elijah (Smits) for years, Sydney is suddenly thrust back into the family fold when her philanthropist mother passes away unexpectedly. In the wake of the loss of his wife and in hopes of reconnecting with the daughter he loves, Elijah asks Sydney to rejoin his Civil Rights firm and take on a chemical company whose product may cause cancer. Despite her lingering resentment and distrust, she agrees because she knows that working alongside her father is her best hope at changing the world — as long as they can find a way to get along. No sooner has Sydney returned than she stumbles on a secret that Elijah has been keeping from her that may change everything.

*6/16/20 update: Bluff City Law has been cancelled by NBC so, there won’t be a second season.
I absolutely love this show. The issues it tackles are very topical in today’s world. We need more shows like this with caring people. Very disappointing to hear it may be canceled after only one season.
Bluff CIty Law is the best show on television. The characters depict warmth and empathy in every show. The show is not based on just one character. Every one in their office has a part every week. Most of all this show is about people who care about others and this country could use a lot more shows like this one. Please do not cancel this amazing show!!
Please do not cancel. I look forward to Mondays because of this show.
As an added note “Perfect Day” (aired 11/25/19) was an amazing episode. Never saw it coming, emotionally impactful. The pain in this episode was so multi-layered.
Yet again, NBC BLINDSIDES its viewers SMH
with cancelation. Like one other viewer wrote and I am sure others will follow; when my current NBC programming is gone and there are only a handful, so too am I. I am tired of your cancelations.
Wow I should have known better than to invest any attention to an NBC television show that is not The Voice or AGT, or some 3 part ER REBOOT Chicago cross-over cross-over ad nauseam show. This year has been a year of a great many new shows. To base a decision not to renew on half a season of a good show is ridiculous. NBC’s policies of renewals on programming is one of the reasons most of my TV viewing has gone to your competitors…JUST TIRED OF SHORT TERM INTEREST IN YOUR OWN PROGRAMMING…With the exception of your money makers… Read more »
We can’t forget This is Us which I’m actually pretty bored with this season. I like AGT, but I’m over it too. The season lasts way to long! Bluff City Law is FANTASTIC!! MAYBE it’s to intelligent of a show for NBC
I agree whole heartedly!!
I sincerely like this show and would hate to see it cancelled. Cast and writers are good and some pertain to todays legal hassles. Please do not cancel!!!
We love bluff city law and cannot believe it will be canceled after only 10 episodes. Yet shows like Survivor go on and on for years and years. Ridiculous
YEEEESSS!! Survivor Season 39!!?? Death to reality TV! I love Bluff City Law! That last episode was WOW!! Love the characters.
please keep bluff city law on. great shows. good tv they need season two.d
Bluff City Law is great. Great cast. Great story lines that are relevant to today’s society issues. Love the courtroom scenes, particularly the one where the judge shut down the questions by the prosecutor! Do not cancel.
I agree totally. As people become more aware of show they will follow it. Please do not cancel!!
BCL is one of the only shows I watch on the peacock network, but that’s not only notable for its uniqueness but for its overall quality on acting capabilities, subject matter, and overall believability. There’s very little sugar-coating during any of the episodes and no “feel-good” outcomes just for the sake of fluffy endings. Sorry to hear that it won’t likely make it back from its mid-season hiatus. Bye-bye peacock network; maybe see you again in another ten years. Or not.
This is my favorite new show. I hope they aren’t going to cancel it. I will stop watching all new shows if they do. I am tired of getting obsessed with shows that then just get canceled after just a short first season!
Renew Bluff City…great show and actors. One of the few shows I watch on your network.
Agree!!
I like bluff city law. Please don’t cancel cause it is a change opp f pace from the other shows.
I love that is set in Memphis! It really is a change of pace!
I hope you renew and continue Bluff City Law for a new season – excellent story lines and very likable characters – one of my favorite shows and one of the very few weekly shows that I regularly watch and do not miss an episode. Give it a chance to continue to build a regular audience. DO NOT CANCEL!!
Please do not cancel Bluff City Law. It’s a really good show: believable episodes, good acting, I look forward to each episode
