Most actors never have a successful TV series while Mayim Bialik has starred in two — Blossom and The Big Bang Theory. Will her latest sitcom, Call Me Kat, also be a success in the ratings? Will this FOX show be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status Update Below.
A multi-camera comedy series, the Call Me Kat TV show is based on the British Miranda series. The sitcom stars Bialik, Swoosie Kurtz, Kyla Pratt, Cheyenne Jackson, Leslie Jordan, and Julian Gant. The story follows Kat (Bialik), a woman who struggles every day against society and her mother to prove that she can live a happy and fulfilling life — despite still being single at 39 years old. Kat’s mother, Sheila (Kurtz), views her daughter being single as her own personal failure. After leaving her job as a University of Louisville college professor, Kat spends the money her parents had set aside for her wedding to open a cat café. Working alongside Kat are Randi (Pratt) and Phil (Jordan). As Kat celebrates her independence, her single-forever plans begin to veer off-course. Her former crush and good friend, Max (Jackson), returns to town and takes a job as a bartender at the piano bar across the street and works with his friend, Carter (Gant).

*5/11/2021 update: Call Me Kat has been renewed for a second season on FOX.
I have really liked the show so far, it’s a bit different but I enjoy it! I hope it stays around for awhile!
Worst show I ever watched
Please renew it.
All I Can Say Is This Show Is Bad
I seriously laughed out loud throughout all 4 episodes. Please give this show a chance! The characters are truly wonderful to watch and it’s a breath of fresh air in the realm of stale sitcoms. Give it some time PLEASE!
Thank you!
Please boost ratings so funny and good love this show look forward good sitcom not much on these days ever since this past summer. More people worth watching every episode.
I love the show call me Kat. Finally something fun and positive on tv during these times we r in. Please don’t cancel!! Thank you
I just watched this last night for the first time and I can honestly tell you that I did not laugh ONCE. I like the lead actress because I watch The Big Bang Theory and I’ve seen some of Blossom even. To me she’s not the problem. The writing is. It’s good to see Kyla Pratt again, and she’s as lovely as ever, but again the writing is bad. I like Swoozie Kurtz, and Leslie Jordan but when they can’t elevate the material, that ain’t good. I may check out the other 3 episodes before this one but man, this… Read more »
Inane…cancel it!
This show tried too hard to copy Miranda on bbc. At some point in every show I’d laugh. Kat just doesn’t have the same awkwardness that made it a hit.
With the success of ‘Young Sheldon’, they should be making ‘Young Wolowitz’ – that could be such a funny show, watching Howard grow up with his mother and being the randy rascal he is.
Such an incredibly weak version of the show it’s based on – ‘Miranda’. Watch it on Hulu – unlike this show, it’s hilarious.
The ratings for the second episode of any new show are the most telling. In this case, OUCH!
The show call me Kat is soo original and entertaining I hope that you continue broad casting the show . My husband and I were so happy and surprised. It was quirky a little like The Office very refreshing.
Cant wait for more episodes.
It’s not original – it’s an American knock off from an incredible Miranda Hart in England. I just finished watching every Miranda episode on PBS. It’s hilarious and heart-warming all at the same time. Glad to hear it’s on Hulu. Go watch the real thing.
So funny love this show keep strong ratings rest of this season worth watching.
