What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the Hallmark Channel cable channel, the Chesapeake Shores TV series stars Meghan Ory, Treat Williams, Diane Ladd, Robert Buckley, Barbara Niven, Laci J. Mailey, Emilie Ullerup, Brendan Penny, and Andrew Francis. Jesse Metcalfe guests. The store explores the lives of the O’Brien family, after the homecoming of eldest daughter Abby O’Brien (Ory), a high-powered career woman and divorced mother of two. Over the past few seasons, Abby has leaned on her family to strike a balance between her professional and personal lives. This season will see her coming into her own as her father Mick’s (Williams) new business partner and facing a new challenge when successful and eccentric entrepreneur Evan McKenzie (Buckley) brings a new development project into town.
Season Five Ratings
The fifth season of Chesapeake Shores averaged a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.46 million viewers. Compared to season four, that’s down by 46% in the demo and down by 14% in viewership in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled. Find out how Chesapeake Shores stacks up against other Hallmark Channel TV shows.
Chesapeake Shores has been renewed for a sixth (and final) season which will debut on August 14, 2022. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Will Hallmark Channel cancel or renew Chesapeake Shores for season six? Metcalfe is exiting the show after four seasons and his and Ory’s onscreen relationship has been a big part of the series. Can the show survive without that? I’m thinking the ratings will take a hit but that they’ll still be good enough for the show to be renewed. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. What do you think? Are you glad that the Chesapeake Shores TV show has been renewed for a sixth season? Should this Hallmark Channel TV series be ending?
I love this show and really hope it gets renewed. Love the cast and find the show very interesting.
I actually enjoyed season 5. The whole Abby-Trace coming back and forth through seasons 3 and 4 exhausted me and even made me stop watching for a bit, but S. 5 had a new face and Jess’ wedding, in my opinion, freshened up the show. Really hope season 6 happens.
Chesapeake Shores Please, please, please make series 6 this is such a heartwarming series I just love it ! I have just watched series 5 and there is so much more to tell please dont leave it on this cliffhanger,
Please renew Chesapeake Shores for a sixth season. This is a great show! My husband and I love watching it.
Please continue with this program. It is good for all of us.
This show is outstanding. Everyone has family problems and this program helps you feel and or think about how you could get past those problems or sit down and hash them out. You must know time is running out. Do something soon or it will be to late. Once your mom or dad are gone you have nothing but regret
We LOVE Chesapeake Shores!!! We binge watched Seaso 1 thru 5 this past weekend. We were sorry that Jesse Metcalfe left but the show is doing fine without him. PLEASE PLEASE don’t cancel the show.
Hoping there will be a season 6 and beyond
Season 5 was actually a breath of fresh air! The whole Abby-Trace relationship was weighing the stories down. I was getting so tired of Abby pouting all the time – she didn’t go home to heal, she went home to conquer. And if she couldn’t win her life was in perpetual misery – for both herself and Trace. And she so wanted others to suffer all the time with her. She thought her daughters would suffer when their father moved on with a new partner – she could pine after Trace but Wes wasn’t allowed to be in love with… Read more »
The show should only continue if Jesse Metcalfe returns. If he doesn’t return it should be canceled. It is disappointing and boring.
Love this series bring on series 6 please!!!
Unfortunately Im bored with Season 5. I admit I think CS has run it’s course and should retire.
Surprisingly I even enjoyed this last season more even though Jesse medcalfe was the main draw for me in the beginning. The various daughters relationships have been excellently portrayed with some brilliant acting. Season 5 has been amusing and compelling. I love how the sons characters have been developed and the opening of the law office locally gives further scope for this brilliant character. There is definitely enough story lines to continue and see where it goes. Jesse was probably right – his character couldn’t do much more. And you never know he could return in some way later. Although… Read more »
I love this show, my family loves this show!
It would be a huge disappointment if it didn’t continue.
We’re a solid YES for many more seasons!
This is a true family show loved by my whole family, it would be a travesty not only not to renew it but to not go on for at least another 6 seasons. It has to go on…
