Chicago PD is getting ready to help Dick Wolf launch the fourth series in the franchise. NBC already has Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD. Now Chicago Justice wants to join in the fun. Characters from the new spin-off will appear in a backdoor pilot for the series on this week’s Chicago PD episode.
NBC has released some details about the episode, and a few sneak peeks. Fans know that the team from Chicago Justice will be involved in a case after Burgess shoots an unarmed man after her partner is shot. Philip Winchester will play the man that will defend Burgess when she goes on trial.
There is more to the story. The attorney that comes in has a connection to Voight. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Matt Olmstead revealed the following about the connection:
“He’s the one that put Voight away in prison. So Voight is at once respectful and yet there’s clearly a little bit of ire there. He knows the guy means business because to not be afraid to go toe-to-toe with Voight and win, ultimately you’re going to get his respect. There’s a nice backstory there.”
Spoiler TV shared several sneak peeks for the new episode, and the team from Justice is working hard to find out what happened on the night of the incident. View those sneak peeks by visiting the link.
Dick Wolf has already teased that a fifth series is in the thinking stages for the Chicago franchise, but first Chicago Justice needs to be greenlit.

This looks like another winner for NBC. I did enjoy watching Philip Winchester in the Player, but am happy he will be returning to TV, and I think that Carl Weathers is a great actor. All in all, I think this is going to be a great addition to the fall lineup.
Still missed The Player but I’m happy Philip Winchester is giving NBC a second chance.
I can’t wait for Chicago Justice when it comes on.
