The brave men and women in blue will be protecting their Windy City for at least three more years. NBC has announced the Chicago PD TV show has been renewed for three more seasons — seasons eight, nine, and 10 — which will keep the cop drama on the air through the 2022-23 broadcast network season.
Airing on Wednesday nights, Chicago PD stars Jason Beghe, Jesse Lee Soffer, Patrick John Flueger, Marina Squerciati, LaRoyce Hawkins, Amy Morton, and Tracy Spiridakos. This TV show follows the personal and professional lives of the men and women of the Chicago Police Department’s elite Intelligence Unit. They combat the city’s most heinous offenses including organized crime, drug trafficking, and high-profile murders. Detective Sgt. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) is at the center of the department’s war on crime and he’ll do anything to bring criminals to justice. The series also features crossovers with Chicago Med and Chicago Fire.
The seventh season of Chicago PD is averaging a 1.07 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.87 million viewers. Compared to season six, that’s down by 2% in the demo and down by 3% in viewership.
Today, it was announced that producer Dick Wolf and his Wolf Entertainment company have signed a new five-year deal to remain at Universal Television. The latter is a division of NBCUniversal Content Studios and has been Wolf’s studio home for the past 36 years. As part of the pact, NBC gave three-year renewals to Chicago PD, Chicago Fire (through season 11), Chicago Med (through season eight), and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (through season 24).
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with Dick over the decades and it goes without saying he remains one of the most influential producers in history,” said Bonnie Hammer, Chairman, NBCUniversal Content Studios. “He is a visionary unlike any other whose impact has changed the entire television landscape. We’re beyond thrilled to have Dick and his team remain in the NBCUniversal family for many years to come.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Chicago PD TV series? Do you think that you’ll still be watching in three years?
I will be watching each season hopefully with same actors. They’re all very good and work so well together!
I do miss Sophia Bush & Jon Seda…….wish they would do some guest spots
I love all 3 Chicago shows and will continue watching as long as they are on. Do NOT let any of these actors go, they are all great.
I love this show, really good acting, can’t wait until the next season starts
Has the date for the Chicago PD season opener been scheduled yet?
I love it and glad to see the cast is the same the show is good and keeps you on your toes and for it to continue the cast must remain the same glad to see it’s the same cast
Chicago PD is most exciting thrilling action packed drama police series showing on any TV networks
I love this show, especially as I can binge-watch, instead of having to wait a week to see what happens. Can’t wait for next season and to see how the Atwater and dirty cop situation works out.
Yes I’m obsessed with Chicago PD absolutely love it
Was really upset after Lindsey left & Olinzski wad killed ( which made no sense to most viewers) the show lost 1000% ofthe reason to watch draw…
Probably wont be a long term viewer in the future…the cast changes make no sense & are much weaker “characters”…. I haven’t any interest in seeing them continue in the future seasons. Why didn’t they kill off “Bunny, Atwater, Antonio, etc.”

I love the show and looking forward for the next three seasons. I thought that It would not be the same after Lindsey left but Upton surely fit in quickly and I sure like her character more. I like the Upton/Halstead – Ruzek/Burgess coupling – it does not happen in a way in the show that covers the stories and provides a nice touch. Awesome show!
I’m a 59 year old Mom who waits for this show to air. I Love this Crime drama because it isn’t about rape or female violent murders. My daughter loves this show also because it’s mysterious but not about us. I
Hope the topics remain drug related, gang related and anything other than female crime related dramas. I love the characters. It’s an awesome show!
I love the previous Chicago PD episodes with Lindsey. It appears that characters or the show is getting soft/slow. Not tough cops like before with Lindsey, Al and Antonio. I pray they are not going to put Upton and Jay together. OMG! I will stop watching. Just passing the women around. Ruziek and Burgess… Ruziek and Upton…. Really. Show is getting soft. Bring Lindsey back.
So glad to hear has been renewed. I am a 64yr. old grandma and Chicago PD is one of my favorite TV shows.
Bring Al back to Chicago PD. He was awesome. We miss him dearly on the show. Thanks
Angela….they can’t bring Al Olinski back they “killed him OFF & held his funeral which Voight was invited NOT TO ATTEND by Al’s wife…Stg. Platt advised Voight of this…which broke his heart.” Once a character is DEAD it’s impossible to bring them back…. ie.Thomas Gibbons in Criminal minds on ION TV.
It could have all been a dream !!(!
I just posted that theory……
They could bring him back and say they faked his death and put him under cover
Too funny, I just posted same reason …..many of us here are on same wave length,
Anything’s possible……it could have been. a big secret ploy to place Al undercover for a huge operation
or it was a nightmare dream Hank had due to his guilt about the cover up murder.
Remember the “ Dallas “ episode about Bobby Ewing showering after he was killed the previous season?
That was a great shocker!……..you just never know what writers come up with to surprise the audience.
Chicago PD renewed for 3 more seasons this is so terrific. The best cop action drama series besides Blue Blood. Let Chicago PD go forever. Even my wife loves this show and she usually shy away from BBC cop shows. Keep up the great work Chicago PD. Thanks so much for the awesome entertainment.
I absolutely love Chicago pd!!! Hank makes the show!!! No one could ever take his place.
