As expected, the peacock network has announced that Chuck will be returning for a third season. But, as has become a trend in the industry, there will be a few concessions.
NBC has worked out a deal with Warner Bros. for 13 installments of the Zachary Levi series. As part of that agreement, there have been significant budget cutbacks.
The show’s writing staff is expected to be reduced and two scribes are expected to be let go. In addition, several castmembers won’t be appearing in all of the episodes — Yvonne Strahovski, Joshua Gomez, Adam Baldwin, Bonita Friedericy, and/or Sarah Lancaster? EW’s Michael Ausiello has heard that one actor may be eliminated from the cast altogether, possibly Julia Ling.
NBC is expected to release its full schedule tomorrow. As of now, it looks like Chuck will be landing on Friday nights at 8pm in the Fall. Another of NBC’s “discounted” series, Friday Night Lights, would probably take over the timeslot for midseason.
5/19 UPDATE: Chuck will remain on Monday nights but won’t return until March, after the 2010 Olympics. Sounds like a similar strategy that CW tried with Reaper. Have NBC doomed it?

Save chuck …best programme ever !!
My husband and I truly enjoy “Chuck”. We are so happy it will return and hope that the March issuance is not an indication of it’s demise.
Love Chuck and please don’t say that Yvonne/ Sarah will not be in all of the episodes. They are such a big part of the show. So much for creative Television.
love Chuck – so happy the strategic-thinkers are keeping ths series.
Come On. Jay Leno 5 nights a week. Shows like Chuck and Friday Night Lights suffer from budget cuts of writing and talent. Is NBC becoming one big network infomercial. What’s the point of watching network programming. Time to save up for those cable channels.
Jot, Chucks does air in the Philippines and it has a great following… we love Chuck here & we hope that this is not the last Season…
No!!come on, Yvonne/ Sarah should be in all of the episodes, there’s no flare to it if Sarah or Casey ain’t there in one of each episodes…
I hope the coming season, would be more exciting than the others… I LOVE CHUCK very much

Sarah or yvonne strahovski should be part of every episodes as well as casey….
I hope these last season will definitely good and unforgetable scenes or episodes which will make me or the fans of chuck satisfied.
It is really indeed a good series.
this is anna from china. we love CHUCK, everyone eager to see the show could be back on stage very soon. If the third season is the final one, please give the audiences a chance to see every castmembers in the show!!!
Everyone fought so hard to KEEP Chuck, are we going to recognize it when it returns?
NBC does not Care about “Chuck” look at what they are doing.
1. Putting Chuck on Friday nights.
2. Significant budget cutbacks.
3. The show
I wouldn’t worry about the cast shift. LOST rotates who’s on deck and Scrubs did it with the last season and it didn’t hurt anything. The only three that will be in every ep are probably Chuck, Sarah and Casey. I’m hoping for more visits from Dr Sam Beckett—er Scott Bakula!
how could they not include all the cast in all the episodes, they all make up the show. i hope this doesnt ruin it. but putting it on friday nights is probably gonna destry the show.
