It looks like the demons have won this time around. NBC has cancelled their Constantine TV show after one short season of 13 episodes.
Constantine revolves around the travels and work of John Constantine (Matt Ryan), an occult detective. He tries to help the innocent though his soul is already damned to hell. Others in the cast are Harold Perrineau, Charles Halford, and Angelica Celaya.
The show debuted on Friday, October 24th, as a companion series to NBC’s Grimm. The first episode did well in the ratings but there was a big drop off in week two and the numbers didn’t get much better. The season ended up averaging a disappointing 0.92 demo rating with 3.34 million viewers.
It was a bad sign when the network halted production in November after 13 episodes. NBC maintained that a second season was still an option but that seemed highly unlikely given the numbers.
Showrunner Daniel Cerone maintains that studio Warner Bros is working to find the series a new home.
What do you think? Did you like the Constantine TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Does anyone know whether or not this show will be picked up on the SciFi channel or may NetFlicks?
If anyone here knows the reason why Constanine was cancelled can you please let us all know. Or if possible would check to see who is making the decisions in programming at NBC. Because obviously whoever these people are, they don’t know what the hell they are doing.
All management, programmers and CEO’s at NBC/Universal really needs a colostomy!
I’m so done with NBC/Universal.
Amazing show. Only JUST found out it was cancelled. I don’t usually watch something until the season is complete. That’s pretty much how america does things now. Tired of them taking decent shows off the air just to keep putting “i’m 16 and don’t know how to keep my legs shut so I have 8 kids” back on for another season. good job asshats…
Constantine was a good show and was growing in popularity in viewership! The show itself had good solid acting, story lines and special effects. Every time I start to get into a show the network pulls the plug! Do really surveys on line asking people their opinions of what is good and bad! Stop assuming so much on your own behalf thinking about profits all the time! You do know what the word “assume” means NBC? I hope Constantine finds a good home on the CW or SCFI! Do real surveys and polls of a broad spectrum of people! Did… Read more »
I really liked Constantine!! I was very disappointed when they halted the show! It was starting to get really interesting, hopefully Warner Bros can find it a new home!! Most of the best shows aren’t on network TV anymore anyway.
wow; who is making these decisions at nbc…excellent show; well scripted and superb acting…my earnest opinion…much etter then grimm…poor decision
I loved this show and hoped against hope that it would come back to NBC. But it seems that unless an outside of the box show is on WB or AMC, it doesn’t have a chance. Why bother spending the time on a network show any more???
Figures! Another great decision by NBC! NOT!
The show was Awesome.
NBC please find this show a home
Why do you cancel the really great shows and keep the crappy ones on????????????? This show was good and had lots of potential!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m disappointed. Yes, there was turmoil with the casting, but, again, major networks just don’t have the patience (except in rare instances) to let shows like Constantine build their world and their audience. This was just getting interesting.
TOO BAD!! Goodd show!! Too often good shows get cancelled!!!
Honestly, I didn’t think it was very good. After watching GRIMM and it’s good story lines, acting and production, Constantine looked like a cheap knock-off.
Between the late start and the holidays this show never really had an opportunity to build an audience. The writers were just starting to get wound up when it was halted. This show and Grimm are the only shows I watched on NBC this year, almost all the others I watch are on CBS.
lots of ID 10 t’s at NBC
I am DONE WITH NBC.
