Did you miss Day Break on ABC last night? If so, you’re certainly not alone. We’ve been innundated with emails and traffic from people looking for details on what’s happened to the Taye Diggs series.
For those who don’t know, Day Break has been pulled from primetime by ABC after just six episodes due to low ratings. The on-going storyline is hardly resolved with seven unaired episodes left in the season. ABC has said they will post episodes (one per week) on their website but many people don’t have a powerful enough computer, can’t access the Internet long enough to watch, don’t have a fast Internet connection or, for many other reasons, simply can’t view the episodes. In short, millions of people who could have seen future episodes on free network television, will never see this excellent series — and we think the decision-makers should know.
So, we’re inviting you to sign a petition that asks the network and the production companies (Gross Entertainment and Touchstone Television) to release the series so that more people can see it — to return the series to network TV or at the least, to release it on DVD. With enough interest, there could even be a second season or a movie.
Let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know — anyone who misses Day Break — where they can find this petition. Naturally, the more names are collected, the better.
To sign the petition, fill out the “comments” box below. You only need to leave your name, city and state (or country). You may leave comments if you wish but please try to keep them civil. We’ll be monitoring the petition to ensure that it stays clean of spam or inappropriate comments. Let’s save Day Break!
Please note, due to the overwhelming response, 5,000 comments have been archived (for bandwidth issues).
To ABC, Gross Entertainment & Touchstone Television:
cc: Taye Diggs
We, the undersigned have enjoyed much of your programming, particularly the outstanding Day Break series. We have enjoyed the Taye Diggs series each week and are dismayed that it has been pulled from the primetime schedule.
We believe that the ratings have not accurately shown the show’s popularity for success. After just six episodes, we believe that Day Break was not given enough time to fully establish a potentially huge audience. Please remember that many very popular shows like MASH, 24 and Cheers were not immediate hits.
We understand that ABC is posting the remaining episodes online but, for a variety of reasons, millions of people are not able to see these episodes — resulting in lost viewership for you and disappointment and frustration for them.
We respectfully request that you return Day Break to network television and to consider continuing production of further episodes or even a film. At the very least, we ask that you make the existing episodes available to a wider audience via a DVD release.
Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.
The Undersigned fans of Day Break
I really love this show! It was extremely well put together, like watching a movie in every episode. Amazing.
I would love to see this show continue, the Jared shot at the end shows that somebody had a plan for this show to continue! Of course the scam would have to continue up the chain from a local thing to national, worldwide{, controlled by aliens? ok, that’s too far…}.
Moral of the story – This show was great, it needed more time to develop watchers, and it needs to come back.
Please keep Day Break for another season or additional episodes. It deserves a second chance, maybe on a new night and time.
Just watched the finale (finally) and now I’m gonna watch it again (just to try to flesh out some details that escaped me). I knew we’d see Jared again….due to his last words “sorry I bit you”. But I have to admit I don’t really know any more about Jared’s role than I did before. I was hoping more would be revealed. Anybody out there have that one figured out? And Chad, where the h*** did he go? ABC – – Just do it….put DAY BREAK back on TV…you could learn something from NBC. They aired their new drama “The… Read more »
Just watched the finalle. Did not realize it was finally on the abc website when I wrote last entry. I loved it!! I clapped my hands and was pleased to see Jarred, the man who also was repeating the day, at the end. I still was season 2!!!!
how do ABC entertainment executives justify their huge salaries when they can’t even recognize a great tv show. one of the best written shows to hit the air for a long time and it is pulled – why? is it possible that low ratings were due to other reasons – time slot? poor promotion? – everyone who watched it loved it. Hopefully another network with some vision will pick it up.
Francisco, the man at the end was “nutso” Jared all cleaned up.
Put this series on DVD. It will find an audience just like “Firefly”.
Daybreak was a masterful show – I watched every single episode online as soon as it came out. I’m very glad that ABC did put it all online, but after being yanked around like that, I’m not sure if I can stand to watch other ABC shows. Why should I get into such a wonderful plot only to be left hanging again? The better the show is, the more frustrating it is, so why bother?
Great job, ABC. Way to attract new viewers.
I watched the episodes on line, but there is no finalle!!!!!!
I NEED to know how it ends!!!! And I NEED my weekly dose of Taye Diggs, the sexiest man alive!!!!!! He could have been on a tv show about dental hygene, speaking in Chinese and I still would have watched!!!!! There is something wrong with anyone who pulls that man off of any tv!!!!
BRING BACK DAY BREAK!!!!!!!
what a show! i loved it.
I hope they bring it back. what happened to Chad and what was up with the man at the end? so many questions I wish it comes back next season.
ABC, Daybreak is one of the top 3 TV shows that I have ever seen (along with Heroes and 24). I didn’t expect much from the show given that it was about the same day, but the first 2 episodes reeled me in. The storyline, acting, and character depth really set this show apart from nearly everything else on TV. I couldn’t have been more frustrated with the network for cancelling the show. However, I am so thankful that all 13 episodes were filmed and later released on the web. I would have definitely held a grudge against ABC otherwise.… Read more »
Yes, Please green light another season of Daybreak.
This IS a great show. The only thing I watch on ABC other than LOST.
This show is great. Just finished watching the last episode. Even though I was able to figure out some stuff before the last episode, the parts about Hopper’s father’s partner threw me for a loop. That guy at the end, was that a hint for the next Day Break series. It took me a little while to figure out who it was – Jared.
I don’t understand why a great show like Day Break doesn’t get a proper chance while there is so much CRAP that does. This show is smart, and entertaining.
Create another season of Daybreak you left us with too many unanswered questions! This show is awesome!!!
It would be very nice to at least see this show released to DVD, at least i can know how it ended because i don’t live in the U.S. Also, this was the first show in a while that got me hooked. I couldn’t wait ’till the next episode.
