There won’t be a sophomore season for Netflix‘s high school zombie series. The streaming service has opted to cancel the Daybreak TV series after one season of 10 episodes.
The Daybreak TV show stars Colin Ford, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Sophie Simnett, Austin Crute, Gregory Kasyan, Krysta Rodriguez, Cody Kearsley, Jeanté Godlock, and Matthew Broderick. Based on the graphic novel by Brian Ralph, the series follows Josh Wheeler (Ford), a 17-year-old high school outcast who’s searching for his missing girlfriend, Sam (Simnett), in a post-apocalyptic Glendale, California. He’s joined by a ragtag group of misfits that includes a pyromaniac 12-year-old Angelica (Lind) and Josh’s former high school bully, Wesley (Crute). The group tries to stay alive amongst the horde of gangs of evil jocks and cheerleaders turned Amazon warriors, zombie-like creatures called Ghoulies, and everything else this brave new world throws at them.
The series launched on October 24th of this year and, it would seem, didn’t attract enough viewers for Netflix to want to order a second season. The streaming service often makes a decision on a show’s fate some four or six weeks after a release. Series co-creator and executive producer Aron Eli Coleite revealed that the show had been cancelled via Twitter.
I don't even know how to say this, so we prepared a small statement. Love you all. Thank you! pic.twitter.com/rKXWxuaaFh

What do you think? Did you enjoy the Daybreak TV show? Are you disappointed that it’s been cancelled? Would you have watched season two?
I am disappointed because there is no second season of the series Daybreak. It is beautiful and fun to watch. I watched 10 episodes in two days. It is very good. I hope it will be in a second season.
I watched the 10 Episodes in 3 days. This is a great show, very likeable characters & quite bummed there’s only 1 season.
I’d love to see more
I literally got tears in my eyes to hear this news! Hopefully Hulu or another platform has the wisdom to pick up a show that was phenomenal and inclusive, hilarious and irreverent and smart and philosophical with an amazing soundtrack. Please please give us a 2nd season!
This show is this generations freaks and geeks. There is no good reason this show won’t get a second season other than not enough people knowing about it right when it came out. Daybreak is savage af and I loved it!
Very upset to see there isn’t a second two being released. I’ve rewatched the show several times and have recommended it to multiples friends. Such a shame
How Daybreak fit the Future of Netflix Daybreak peaked early, it wasn’t the perfect show especially given how the plot line fell apart near the end but it was entertaining and cheap. Netflix needs more content that is entertaining and cheap. The big budget Netflix originals aren’t sustainable, especially as Amazon starts to outprice them. In the near future Amazon will own big budget films, and Disney+ already owns the kid/family demographic. To remain competitive, Netflix needs to manufacture cheaper shows and the easiest way to do that is a comedy, especially a cheap horror comedy. Given that Millenials in… Read more »
I’m getting sick of this, i watch a show enjoy it look forward to more and Netflix cancel it time to cancel Netflix i think #wewantdaybreakseason2
Nooooo!! We want season 2!!!! 🙁
There should be a season two, there are so many of the same shows out there. This was finally something different.
Yes I would definitely have watched a season 2. I think that Netflix as a platform is great-but it’s difficult to find shows-see whats new-etc. I hope they reconsider.
Such a shame there won’t be a season 2 to daybreakers, it’s the first season of something I’ve sat and watched on Netflix without getting bored by episode 3 in a while! Especially with some of the rubbish you have been releasing, it seems your only interested in murderers and phycos and unfunny adam Sandler films what’s going on Netflix! So many unanswered questions, we want to know why Sam’s turned into a *****? what’s ms crumble turning into?, is principal burr really dead? What’s going to happen to the daybreakers? Come on Netflix sort it out
Its really too bad that Netflix missed out on their marketing for this smart and funny show. Yes, it’s about teens, but it’s really not a teen program. The target audience should have been adults in their 40s. This has an awesome soundtrack, great references to horror genre of the past and really, who can’t just love Matthew Broderick (and as a bad guy!). Had they not released it just before the start of the holiday shopping season, Daybreakers would have been a great success.
