It looks like Aaron’s journey likely won’t continue into the 2021-22 television season. The For Life series has been cancelled so, there won’t be a third season — at least not on ABC.
Airing on Wednesday nights, the For Life TV show is inspired by the life of Isaac Wright Jr. and stars Nicholas Pinnock, Indira Varma, Joy Bryant, Dorian Missick, Tyla Harris, and Timothy Busfield. The series follows the tale of Aaron Wallace (Pinnock), an incarcerated man who becomes a licensed lawyer while still in prison. Aaron litigates cases for other inmates while fighting to overturn his own life sentence for a crime he didn’t commit. In season two, Aaron continues his battle against the political machine that once put him away undeservedly while trying to rebuild his life on the outside. He has the continued help from the people who supported him — his family, wily one-time public defender Henry Roswell (Busfield), and his former prison warden, Safiya Masry (Varma).
The second season of For Life averaged a 0.35 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.81 million viewers in the live+same day ratings. Compared to season one, that’s down by 38% in the demo and down by 26% in viewership. It is the lowest-rated scripted show on the network for 2020-21 and finished airing its 10 episode season in late February.
Sony Pictures TV co-produces the drama series with ABC Signature and is expected to shop a possible third season to other outlets. For Life, has reportedly performed very well on Hulu, the streaming service which has released episodes the day after their linear release.
What do you think? Do you enjoy the For Life TV series? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled? Were you looking forward to watching the third season on ABC?
Lots of people don’t watch TV anymore. ABC needs to advertise on ESPN to really expand viewing audience. This series pulls you in just like ALL the others when they’re cast correctly. Everything clicked. They worry more about selling advertising rather than promoting such a good series. It’s not
a coincidence that on a streaming service
this became popular. Great writing, acting
and overall entertaining. It’s a shame this was canceled
Too many really good shows canceled from all Hannes. Makes me not want to get interested anymore. Rebel, for life, prodigal son, God friended me, outsiders, and many more
I think the for life show was great and would love to see a season 3
I enjoyed watching it they should have never canceled it this is a good show orher shows should be canceled not this show.
This was a wonderful show! And the fact that it was based on a true story….and it kept up with current events!
So sad to learn this great show has been cancelled by ABC. I could not get enough if it and binged watched it all in self isolation!! Couldn’t have found better company!! Hope someone else picks it up!!
Absolutely loved this series from the first episode, was hooked & binged watched over a few days! I’m so disappointed that it isn’t being renewed for a third plus. Hoping Netflix or someone pick it up & continue this brilliant series
Awesome tv show. Bring it back. I loved it.
I personally enjoyed the series for life and was expecting another few episodes to at least give closure to the characters to me it’s not fair to leave us hanging the story told a lot of true events and sadly life lessons on how so easily things can change in a moment I hope someone else will continue the show
Loved this show! How it gets renewed by someone else!
The Own network picked up the show (All Rise ) maybe they will do the same for (For Life )
Let’s hope!
Please someone else pick up the show for life I loved the show
For Life is a great show! I am so sad to find out it’s been canceled. The characters and episodes are very realistic dealing with real issues. Come on ABC…. bring it back!!
I agree!
This show was amazing! Watched both seasons in less than two weeks, cannot believed it was cancelled! Disappointed, this storyline is definitely inspiring and is the type of show this country needs.
Love this show I binged watched and want more…who watching regular live tv anymore. I think ABC just doesn’t want to shed light on the events the series focuses on. But it definitely needs to be shown. Kudos to Sony for bringing it to the forefront.
