TV show description:
This family sitcom takes place in the 1990s and follows the story of Eddie Huang’s Taiwanese family as they make their way from Chinatown in Washington, DC to Orlando, Florida. They open up a steak restaurant and experience serious culture shock while pursuing the American Dream.
Young Eddie’s parents are Louis (Randall Park) and Jessica Huang (Constance Wu). Louis loves everything America and moves his family to open Cattleman’s Ranch Steakhouse. Unlike Jessica, he believes in the good of people. Jessica is a strong, protective mother who’s also a frugal, business-minded woman who doesn’t believe in wasting anything.
Eddie Huang (Hudson Yang) is the family’s eldest son loves hip-hop and often feels like the black sheep. He’s not thrilled about the move and wants desperately to belong. He always has a plan to get his situation to change, usually inspired by his favorite rappers.
Emery (Forrest Wheeler) is the middle son who adapts very well to the move and becomes popular very quickly. Optimistic and easy-going, he gets a girlfriend on the first day of school. Youngest son Evan (Ian Chen) is a mama’s boy who follows rules, is lactose intolerant, and is often sent by his mother to be a representative at neighborhood meetings — to get the inside scoop.
Episode #116 — Commencement
Jessica grapples with her vision of the future as the boys are each realizing what their own goals are.

What do you think? Do you like the Fresh Off the Boat TV show? Would you have watched if it had been renewed for a seventh season?

I love, love, love this show. Eddie and the Mom are so funny and I look forward to watching it every week. The comedy is so pure and entertaining. Please bring it back! I love all the characters.
I love “Fresh off the boat” — could you change the title to “Living in America?”
I love each character – the humor – how one adapts to America’s craziness.
Please keep the show on.
Hi Rose,
I love the show and humor too.
They went with the title “Fresh Off The Boat” because the entire series is based on Eddie Huang’s blog/memoir called……Fresh Off The Boat.
They were unable to use “Living In America” because James Brown’s family wouldn’t release the copyrights for that title. His family did however, offer them the title, “I Feel Good”, and David Bowie’s song, “Little China Girl.”
Cancel Fresh Off The Boat????
Ohhhhhhhhh Hell nooooooo!!!!
I am a 40ish white woman who walks around singing D.O.B’s Shimmy Shimmy Ya thanks to this show!! I LOVE it!!! Ohhhhhh baby like it raaaaw!!!!
No do not cancel!!,
I love this show and family sitcoms. ABC finally has some shows worth watching and the writing and characters are very lovable. Please bring back. I was so disappointed not to see it all of a sudden. There’s enough drama on TV about the ugly side of life, this show is fun. Keep it coming, please.
I look forward to Fresh Off the Boat and I was disappointed because I could not find it this week. It is refreshing to see an American Asian family on TV. When I was in elementary school I hung out at the house of my Chinese friend and loved her family with her two sisters, parents, and very old grandfather. It is important for us to understand Chinese culture and for Chinese folk to see themselves acknowledge and represented on TV. Every ethnic group is stereotyped on TV. Glad we are seeing more ethnic groups of Americans as familiarity fosters… Read more »
I love the show! Please don’t cancel!! Renew it!!

Jump it like a hot potato. Make room for something of quality.
Mostly likable characters. A long overdue concept that focuses on an Asian-American family, but sadly the writing is amateurish. We’re talking Saturday morning Disney level writing. But have a feeling it will live on because of its novelty and what seems to be strong support from the Asian community. It’s cute. Not too offensive to white people. Will make advertisers satisfied, I suppose.
it’s not offensive to whites because it is filled with negative Asian stereotypes that whites can laugh at, why would whites be offended at that?
and the reason why it’s amateurish is because it is a badly done rip off of Margaret Cho’s stand up routine from 20 years ago and the original all american girl
Its written by a chinese guy…so what are you talkin about?
I love and adore Margaret Cho, but you can’t compare her life or comedy with Eddie Huang. They are both Asian, but that is the only similarity. Eddie Huang is intensely talented, funny and creative. You should Wikipedia his name and see what he is all about.
Stereotypical Chinese mother, Every one of the boys is a combination of uninteresting and overused clichés. Totally unoriginal writing, how about some original series?
Love Fresh off the boat great Family show..need more
Oh, you mean like all the other crap on TV? You probably like Everybody loves Raymond
@none of your business, Eddie Huang’s mother in real life is Chinese so maaaaaybe she has a few Chinese traits and customs? If they open up a donut shop or laundry shop in season 2, THEN you can scream “cliché.”
